I am really sorry if this has been posted before but I was wondering what the protocol is with texture packs in youtube videos. Me and my friend are starting a new channel and were wondering if we were able to use any texture pack, unless it specifically says not to. Or rather, that we are able to use them, so long as we give them credit or if we send them a PM or something. I don't want to steal peoples hard work since I know how hard it is to make a texture pack, so I just wanted to be sure before we use any in our videos. Once again sorry if this has been asked before, i didn't find anything here.
This is quite a kind move by doing this. Every statement you've
said is correct and unfortunately most people don't acknowledge
their video's, texture pack artist's work.
You can probably contact the artists of whichever texture pack you decide on
through a private message or through a "reply" on the thread of the texture pack.
Most texture packs have a place on the bottom of the main text signifying
how you can contact the texture pack's creator most successfully.
Once again, it is really nice to see some video creators acknowledging
the work these texture artist's go through. For I've been working on
textures and im still not yet satisfied enough to release them.
Thanks for thinking about this topic, really rare to see a person
that cares enough...
I really don't see a problem with you making a video using someone's pack, so long as you credit them and provide a link to their thread in the description. That's the usual procedure.
It's also polite to inform the artist that you've made a video of their work, just so they can come and oogle it with giddiness. :biggrin.gif:

I really only thought this was the case for adventure maps. I'm not sure texture pack makers would like tons of people sending in their videos to them..
although if this were the case, doku has quite a bit of oogling to do. :tongue.gif:

I thought this was kind of common knowledge.
>make video
>include texturepack forum link ins desc.
