Alright. I am trying to make a new texture pack that makes minecraft seem warmer. (Think of Good Morning Craft)
Well, I have some of the stuff done, like new grass, dirt, and stone. But there are some things I just cant get right.
Like the cobblestone, for example. Anyway, I just cant get away from the default texture pack, and Im trying to completely reinvent it. Any help?
The texture pack
Any textures with a repeat will be fixed. :smile.gif:
Perhaps you could give an example of what you mean? Maybe an uploaded image of said cobblestone texture? I'm sure people would be able to help better if they could see what you are talking about. :smile.gif:

Well, I've deleted every texture of cobblestone Ive made. They just arn't right. as of now, I just recolored the cobblestone to match the smoothstone.

With all due respect, I'm not sure that is a good idea. It'll confuse people using the pack, and I personally think it's better for cobblestone and smoothstone to have different textures. A lot of people look for a good cobblestone texture in a texture pack - cobblestone is one of the most easily obtained building materials, and people are going to want what they make to look nice.
Also, always keep old versions of your files instead of deleting them because you don't like them. You won't improve if you just delete all of your failures. :wink.gif: You need to learn what's wrong with them so you can do better the next time. If you can't figure it out yourself, then in threads like this you can provide them as examples so that other people can point out what's wrong for you. Just saying that you can't get the cobblestone texture right isn't going to help anyone to figure this out, as they can't see what you mean unless you provide an example of it.
Give it one more shot instead of giving up, then show us what you're talking about. That way we'll be able to help you improve. :smile.gif:

Alright. Ill get working on a new cobblestone texture. Hope its good :biggrin.gif:
I got it hosted in Imgur, but its in a link. I cant figure out how to get a picture to work :tongue.gif:
Alright, so the first thing I did was put it in GIMP and tile it. It looks something like this:
As you can see, it has some tiling issues, you can kind of see the edges of the square that the original texture was made in. There's a nifty tutorial HERE that goes over some issues regarding tiling and how to fix it.
Otherwise I think it's a pretty nice texture. :smile.gif: I'm not entirely sure if it fits with the theme you're trying to do since I only have one screenshot to go by(you updated the OP, I see!), but it's not a bad cobblestone besides the tiling issues.
Getting things to tile correctly is one of the most important parts of making a texture, and also one of the trickiest if you're just starting out. If you want to check if it tiles properly, just copy and paste the square next to/above/below itself several times in a larger image and you should get an idea of how it'll look in the game.
I hope this was helpful. I'm not the most experienced texture pack creator but I'd like to help you out if I can. :smile.gif:

Good luck! I'm sure you can do it! And if not, well... people are here to help. :biggrin.gif:
I got it! Believe it or not, this is probably the best Ive done. I hope you like it. Give me everything you dont like.
The cobblestone
I don't see it, have you uploaded it to an image hosting site? Can't tell you what I think otherwise. =P
EDIT: Nevermind, I don't think the link was there before. Gimme a bit of time to check it out.

Make sure to fine-tune the tiling and junk before you do. If you found my advice helpful and want more second opinions, feel free to ask. :smile.gif:
