You DO have to patch with the HD patcher. If this is a 64x texture pack, Minecraft should crash if you try to use it without patching first. If not, you'll have all sorts of graphical bugs in any case.
As for the pack, it seems mostly okay, but the ice texture is jarring and the furnace side texture is blurry.
In fact, it looks like you just resized images from Google. Looking at the cactus, I'm sure you did (I did a Google search for "cactus" to find some references). You shouldn't do that. Firstly, those images aren't royalty-free, and so it's actually illegal to distribute them. Secondly, and more importantly, it takes no effort to resize an image. People really dislike it when people make texture packs that take no effort at all. It's why simple packs are frowned upon.

You really are oblivious aren't you?
The patch fixes texture glitches, it doesn't make your computer suddenly able to handle larger resolution texture packs. If your computer isn't that great/running a 64bit OS, it will probably struggle to handle anything higher than 32x.

Ok, but my computer is 32bit computer and it can run even 256x texturepack.
