minecraft mac texure pack problem

when i download my minecraft folder it doesnt come in a .zip it comes in a folder

Zip folders are automatically extracted on a mac. The .zip should be in the trash bin.

I had the same problem. Make sure to right click and zip the contents of the folder, and not the downloaded folder itself.
