Every time I patch Minecraft with MCpatcher, it takes away my mods. I don't know if it does it to all my mods since I just put GLSL on there, but every time I patch before I put in a new HD texture pack, it takes away Zombe's mod pack. Like I have to put all the .classes back into the .jar to get it to work again. Is there anyway around this? Like, do you have to Patch every time you are going to put in a new HD Texture Pack, or is it a once and done?
I only got the game like...three days ago though, so I guess I shouldn't feel too retarded for not knowing.
Also, the reason I patched it every time is because that was like, in the instructions. It always said patch, then put the texture pack in to the texturepacks folder. So I always patched.
Also, the reason you lose all your mods is because MCPatcher uses a fresh minecraft.jar to patch Minecraft.
Not true. The first time you patch the game, it copies your jar, which is uses as a backup for when you press the "Unpatch" button. In future, it patches from this copy, and not from the minecraft.jar. Thus, any changes made to the jar after your first patch will be gone if you patch it again. If you want to reset the backup, go into your bin folder and find a file called minecraft-1.7.3.jar (or whichever version you have), and delete it. Patching after deleting that will recreate it as a copy of your current jar.
That's true. But honestly, did you want to make it that complicated for him? For most people, that backed up minecraft.jar is a fresh one.
Not if you're modding. A lot of mods require that the HD Patcher be installed after the mod, in which case, it isn't a fresh one. Since the OP implies that he is using a lot of mods, I thought I might clear that up.

So if I delete the minecraft-1.7.3.jar in my bin folder, anytime I patch I won't lose the mods I have installed?
As a humble mod user, I've never had problems with installing mods and hd packs by patching once, right at the beginning, then adding whichever mods. Only need to patch once :smile.gif:

No. If you delete it, the next time you patch, it will recreate it, but you won't lose the mods you have installed that one time. You should only need to patch your game once, though.
