Hello all.
I just bought Minecraft today, after watching countless videos for the last 3 days heh.
I'm just curious as to which texture pack is the recommended one? And is there any way to extend how far you can see? I have mine set to max, but yet I can't see much still.
Also, is there anywhere I could go to pick up some useful hints for a newbie?
Thanks in advance :smile.gif:.
Minecraft wiki, just search it and it will come up, it will basicaly have everything there for you to now, and it also has some tutorials for newbs.. good luck and happy minecrafting!
There really is no recommended texture pack its like asking someone if they like red or blue some will recommend blue some red texture packs dont really help or mess you up as for sight Im not sure check around the mods section.
OK to answer question 1: There really is no recommended texture pack. It depends on your taste. There is a lot or RPG and modern texture packs. If you like rpg I would recommend dokucraft or ClipTy's RPG texture pack.
2:Useful tips for newbies? Here, as long as you don't post troll bait.(Example:I NEED HELP I CANT FIGURE DIS OUTT!!!&!)
Hope i helped
As far as a texture pack goes, just check one out and see if you like it, there's no recommended one. The list of different texture packs helps with finding good ones, but there's not really any one "best" one. A lot of people like Dokucraft, you'll just have to download the hd texture patcher since it's 32x. Anything 32x or above you'll need that patch for, and it also takes more power to run. I can run up to 64x without more lag on my crappy laptop, so it shouldn't make too much of a difference unless you have a really old and really weak computer.
Awesome replies thus far. Thank you guys :smile.gif:.
Also, it appears that I don't have a sun or a moon. . .and when it gets dark outside I can hardly see anything.
In all the videos I've seen, it wasn't pitch black you could still see stuff. Is this normal?

@Above, try turning your fog settings to Normal or Far. On short/tiny you can't see the sun/moon or clouds/stars.
if nothing gets brighter, it might be ur monitor.
