after playing around with minecraft and texture packs i thought i might have a go at making my own one
i had looked through existing texture packs to see how they are formatted and made one based on the default resolution but replacing some of the textures with either pixel drawings or gimp's patterns and changing the colours of a few things, the redstone wire is a solid colour line and the colour wools are a solid colour. most of the texture pack is me screwing around in gimp trying different patterns for the various blocks
i made it so the iron blocks dont look like white wool, they both look similar in the default pack, and so some of the other block types are a bit easier to see etc. also on cobble and netherrack there is a north indicator shown as a white L in the corner. i have also got custom texture for the water and lava so you will need the MCpatcher to see those
i have tweaked a few of the mob skins namely the creeper and zombies, creepers are rainbow/technicolour while zombies look like they are bleeding most of the other textures are verbatim from the default pack
link to the texture pack, i will usually update the pack if new block types/items come in so a few days after a major update so you can update the pack after a major update if need be http://resistorhelper.org/minecraft/willstexture.zip
its my first attempt at a texture pack so lighten up
People seem to think that because it's their first attempt at a texture pack, they are exempt to all bad comments. Look at people like Doku. His first attempt wasn't crap. Many people's first wasn't crap. Even though it's your first, still take the comments and critique into consideration, as that's what help people progress in making textures.

i dont take criticism well
if i could i would have removed the topic as soon as i saw that first reply
You'd better learn. Trolls out there will see any copied textures or ones from GIMP. And trust me, not all firsts are crap. I'm making one and only half the posts are hate, not all.
Criticism is typically there to help you learn. Granted, the first reply is less than helpful, but yeah, learn from your mistakes, don't just get upset over someone calling it bad.
