Well, I was thinking of starting a 32x pack. I saw some of the videos from Customcraft and gave making textures like that a try. I made five textures for examples of the style I'm trying. I'd like to get some opinions and know if I should continue with it.
The textures are (in order) Stone, Dirt, Sidedirt, Cobblestone, and Bedrock. So far, all of the textures tile well.
So yeah, tell me what you think! I'm liking how they're looking so far. I'm not sure if I'd finish the whole pack, but if you guys like it, I will continue.
...ehhhh...it's alright. It all depends on what theme your goin for.
Some things that would make this look better:
1. Make the tiling a little smoother
2. Make the bedrockl look more like the rest of the pack.
3. Add a bit more depth to the dirt and stone.
These are all just suggestions, you don't have to take my advice, I'm only suggesting these to help a mate out.
Good luck with your pack.
Edit: o ya, one more tiny thing about the stone. To touch up on the tiling, Theres a very large piece of stone surrounded by tinier stones when they are tiled. If you could distribute the sizes of the stone pieces more evenly it would look fantastic.
Thanks for the advice Beu! The bedrock was made the same way the default textures were, contrasting the stone. I'm not sure how I could add more depth to my stone. I'll try some stuff. The dirt was giving me a bit of trouble. I'll try to fix it.
To contrast the stone more: make the cracks a bit darker, burn the places of the stone that would be furthest away, and dodge the places that would be closest to you.......o wait sorry I meant the cobblestone

I don't really like the way the grass is all connected, it looks less like grass hanging of the edge and more like there's a green blanket on it, try making it look more like there are individual blades of grass in it instead of just one huge mass.

Okay, darkened the cobblestone cracks.
