Wow. I do other Internets for a day and I miss an entire riot.
Getting back to your stone brick textures--The first one you posted lacked character or uniqueness, but fit with the feel of the pack. The second one had plenty of character, a distinctive design, and is gorgeous... but I don't think it fits with the feel of this pack. Granted, having the stone brick textures be noticeably more cartoony than the rest of the textures is what Mojang did, so maybe that's your thinking. But to me, in spite of being gorgeous, the second set of textures for stone brick isn't true to the feel of this pack. Like your axe, it's got the feel of a 16-bit RPG. But the axe can get away with it, because it also directly fits with the feel of the pack what with the shape of the handle, and there's more leeway for items.
On a sidenote, I'd like to see an alternate netherrack texture that's actually red and looks like netherrack. Maybe something like your main mossy cobble, except with blood instead of vines and brimstone instead of cobblestone?

If 'lacking character or uniqueness' fits with the feel of the pack, then I might as well chuck the pack! D:
On another note, I edited the stone brick texture from what is shown a few pages back, and I think it looks a bit less 'cartoony' now. It's up on the customizer as an alternate cobble texture if you want to check it out-- I personally feel it fits in wonderfully, but you are of course entitled to your own opinion. If you find that you really don't like it in game, just throw in a alternate suggestion. I'm a big enough sucker that I seem to be making alternates for people left and right already.
As for the netherrack, that's probably the only type of alternate I will never do. I personally hate the bleeding stone look. If anything, I would make a dark scarlet chunk cobble and let people assume it's some kind of hell stone.
And finally, I'm glad you like the ax. I wasn't trying to make it cartoony, though, which means I'll have to go edit it. It's probably the shininess of the handle that does it-- I'll have to make it look rougher and woodier.
Hm, I should probably get to work on this hypothetical cake now that the admins have put up a poll for the changes (and it seems to be leaning in our direction so far :biggrin.gif:)
Also! Anyone have any ideas on what I should do for the melon? Have it be just a standard water melon, or some other decorative item? (or some other melon-type edible?)

Oh dear, this is assuming the melon will be vertical. According to the textures, that's a safe assumption, but real life objects.
...Kabonos, it's a giant cube. If it's not vertical in-game, all I have to do to make it vertical is rotate the texture 90 degrees. (and make the 'top' texture match the side texture)

Retired StaffAnyway, I'll try to stop spamming you guys with little micro updates and only post stuff when I actually have something to show.
(I was just testing out my update war skillz, should the forums go in that direction)
no you need to keep up your update skillllllllzzzzz. (I take no responsibility for my actions, its the red wine)
and we are not off topic, we were discussing the threat of world war III.

Retired StaffNot any more. Another admin freed me almost as soon as I was banned. I technically never actually broke any rules.

Curse PremiumOk, ok.
How about a pillar. Well, a pillar section.
Edit: Which, oddly enough, would look like a stone watermelon.

Retired StaffMaybe. I'll have to see how it looks.
I'm mostly thinking of doing a real melon, since you CAN eat it and all. It's also be nice to have gardens with something other wheat.
Oh, and on that note-- I'm thinking about doing an alternate wheat that looks like sunflowers. Sunflower seed bread anyone?
