Also, this is completely unrelated but I decided to start a farm. Before I knew animals were persistent now, I accidentally slaughtered all of the ones living around my area. Eventually, I found them all hanging out in a butt-ugly swamp, so I used some wheat to walk them all back to the empty pasture I had made long ago in the hopes that something would spawn in it. Now I have to walk around my village with the cacophony of a million baby pigs, sheep, and chickens (I didn't find any cows) as my background music. Oh, and don't forget the moaning, hissing, and xylophone-ing of the mob spawner I build directly below the pasture.
