I have liked the pack so far, I have recommended it to a couple friends as well. The only point I am a little iffy on is the Netherrack. I have always liked it with the red coloring to it. I have used it a lot in my building, it just looks really good to me. It gave it a good feel to it, maybe you could add more red to it. This is just my opinion of course, I just feel the red gives it more of a "hell" vibe to it. All and all though I love the pack! :biggrin.gif: I would definitely use more packs you come out with and when you add stuff, I really look forward to how you evolve it over time! Good luck and Great Job!
It's good to hear that you like it so far-- positive reviews feed my artistic soul! *om-nom*
Having the netherrack the way it is was a sytlistic decision on my part-- I've seen (and made) more 'hellish' red netherrack textures than I can count, and quite honestly I'm not the biggest fan of feeling like I'm in the belly of a whale. I also thought the cracked stones worked really well for this pack-- try using them for a building material for a while and see what you think! They may not be red, but I think they'd probably still look cool in some non-red applications.
EDIT: Drat. Just realized that I'll probably have to change the netherack when 1.8 comes out anyway, since one of the new textures is going to be cracked bricks. So good news-- you'll get your wish in a few weeks (or months, depending on how long Notch takes).
It's most likely going to be out in a month and a quarter from what I can gather.
Steel; this sounds terribly newbie, I have ideas for a texture pack, but I'm not very experienced in pixel art; when I say I have an idea for texture pack, it's not a 'clean', 'remix' or any other of those *beep*.
Got any advice, or any videos? (Maybe tales of your own texture packing newb days or something something? Also if you've got any useful videos, I'd appreciate it if they weren't sped-up creation videos or just a general 'this is how you find the folders, this is how to open a editing software', more like showing how to pixellate, or what tools in editting programs are useful for actually drawing in editting prgrams. Tips, and your help would be grealy appreciated!
EDIT: Okay. Didn't realize you'd already seen it. Unfortunately, I've never used either gimp or paint.net, so I can't tell you all the tricks for those two programs since I don't know them. Sorry.
And I'll have to look into the tale-telling/video thing. I'll get back to you on that.
Wehey, finally got a chance to have a proper look at it (damn people keeping me busy), and all I can say is, this is a triumph. Everything seems to work really well together, and the ladders make a great accent for walls, instead of just looking obviously like ladders. I used them to this effect on my giant wall thig I've started and think they add a great detail to it.
I'm also making some victorian terraced houses and the pack is absolutely perfect for them.
Havent actually done the roofs yet but am trying a few things out. The only thing I don't really like is the Lapiz blocks. I think it's that they're a bit oo bright and I don't really like the fact there's a pattern on them, I tend to prefer the Lapiz blocks that are fairly plain but maybe with a brighter edging, but of course thats just personal taste.
There is literally nothing else I have any constructive criticism for, everything else is fantastic, and can't wait to see what you do next for the pack. Mant rhanks again for the release.
Finally got to test your pack on one of my garden projects and I really liked how it turned out:
If you don't mind another personal request though, would it be possible to release flowers (as an alternate version of them) as bushes instead of a single flower? Especially the rose I guess, it looks a little bit lonely all by itself. :tongue.gif:
Keep up the good work! I'm in love with the Glowstone.

Sure thing. I'll release your bushes with the pistons.

Love those houses!
Yeah, the lapiz block is going to be changed into a wool with the next update, never fear.
This pack is so rich. I still can't get over that part (meant as a compliment:D). I think I may upload some screens of the private server I host later.

Thank you very much! I was going for 'richness', so I'm glad it came through.
of course not! also are you making a sig for this pack? could I con you into making a sig for my pack along the lines of your lost valley one?
Consider it done. I'll have your new sig to you by tomorrow.
As for a sig for this pack: I've thought about it, but...well, I'd rather wait until after the next update, when it's more 'done'. I also don't have any screenshots at the moment that I feel would look good for a sig.

I think you should have it side by side with your lost valley one, in the same style, would be awesome :smile.gif: and it wouldn't be hard to update as the pack updates either. I think I might get to work on an original avatar for myself soon, have a quick break from texturing for a day or so.

I don't think you CAN put them side-by-side. A while ago I tried to add the banner from one of my favorite mods, and this message popped up that said 'Can only have one code,' or something like that. XP

You can have them side by side...sorta. You wouldn't be able to link to both of them through your sig, but you could combine the two banners and make them one pic.

So glad you are approachable unlike some other texture pack makers that have this whole diva air around them. :tongue.gif:
Yeah, well, the diva thing only really works when you're popular. Then you can pull it off and people go 'ooo, ah, it's Doku that famous guy, he doesn't like being bothered.' I'm not popular enough to swing it.
And besides, I personally hate being ignored, so why would I do that to someone else?
Those sir, are hands down, the BEST PISTONS EVER. I'm also liking the alternate flowers, more fitting for my gardens. Lastly, I can't comment on the new Lapis block. I never actually use it, I gave up with my main map before it came out (the map I use in any screenshots).
Using the old Lapis Block as a Wool was kinda neat, however, in my personal taste I don't think it tiles very well. Example (sorry for not shrinking them myself):
Lapis:
No yellow:
It's just a thought. I just replaced the yellow lines with one of the blues used in the texture already. Overall however, stunning update. Can't wait to see what you do with Rails, or any other remaining block for that matter. You have earned the classic gift of: (I'd give more, but I'd feel like I'm spamming)
Hmmmm, yea, I think the blue wool does look better without the gold, but maybe toning down how bright it is would work rather well too. I really like blue and gold, it's just the gold stands out a little too much in this case. :smile.gif:
EDIT: Just noticed the pictures in the OP. Did you just go to Planet Minecraft and download the popular maps? :tongue.gif:
I did the same thing just a week ago.... Great minds think alike?

I think perhaps it just needs to be blended a little better. It doesn't look like its actually apart of it.

Do you mind if I use a few of these for advertising?
