What do you guys think I should do for the new nether bricks? Should I make them something besides bricks (since my netherrack is already bricks) or should I make the a new texture for the netherrack and use the current texture as nether bricks?

I think the old netherrack should be the new bricks, and maybe for netherrack have some sort of generic red stone texture, but with fiery orange crystals embedded in it or something to make it original.

Hm....crystals....
--oh. OH. He-heh. Hehehehe.
HAHAHAHAHA
I think I might have just had a brilliant idea. Now let's see...*runs off to photoshop*
Just finished them up (getting ready to test) and they're not red at all. Though I do think they fit the 'dungeon' theme rather well. ^^
And I have a very....insidious....idea for the netherwart. Deadly Nightshade, anyone? *cackles*
YES NIGHTSHADE!
And I wanted to comment but had nothing to say. Luckily Nerdboy got the ball rolling. Anyways, if I had found a mushroom biome I might've kept playin 1.9, just for your textures. But I'm 1.8 and happy.
Oh, also going to attempt at making another texture pack that hopefully won't be ugly! so ya.
And can we have a peek at the new netherrack? pleeeeeaaaassse?
Haha, I know what you mean. I've had this song running through my head for a while now:
Where oh where have all the fans gone?
Oh where oh where could they be?
Where oh where have all my fans gone?
Oh where oh where could they beeeeeee?
Anyone who doesn't know that tune is a sad, deprived individual and has my pity.
ANYWAY, getting off my self-pity horse: I'm glad you're enjoying the new 1.9 textures. :biggrin.gif: I just wish I had more done....darn you new prerelease with your new textures!!! *shakes fist*
I'm not gone, in fact I still check this thread regularly- I just mostly lurk since I don't really feel the need to post. I still think you're doing a lovely job with the 1.9 textures, though (Especially the cow, that thing is effing adorable). :smile.gif:
I'm quite excited to see how your nether stuff will turn out.

Okay, I'm establishing a new thread rule as of right now:
No lurkers allowed. Anyone who looks at this pack more than once must comment!
Thank you Mr. Rice Monsters for being the first to comply with this new rule. :biggrin.gif:

The new netherrack is....not precisely cooperating. =P
Since we have the netherbricks and nether strong holds to serve as the 'dungeons', I'm considering turning the netherrack into some sort of fungus-covered stone-- you know, like rotting old walls in graveyards.
Anyway, here's what it looks like at the moment, but I'm not exactly thrilled with it:

I like, but I don't know if it fit's. Oh crap, I have to completely rebuild my netherrack tower when 1.9 comes out.

You can't make me follow your rules, I quit! (Wait, i posted anyway so...gah.)
But anyway, the current state of it looks kinda bland compared to the rest of your pack (which means I'd think it would look decent in another pack :wink.gif: ). Still hopeful about the final iteration though.
Oh and I'll try to stop being such a lurker and post more often, the pack really deserves a lot more attention for what it is. :smile.gif:
P.S. the picture is really dark, at least for my monitor.

Don't worry, that's not the final iteration-- I'm just hoping that inspiration will strike me over the head with a crow bar again soon. :tongue.gif:
I want to go with a boiler-room/dungeon sort of feel, but I can't really think of a way to go about doing that without making the netherrack boring dark stone...
The darkness issue is probably just a difference in monitor brightness-- I can see it just fine (as can some of my fans :biggrin.gif:), but others have complained in the past about it being too dark. Maybe try turning up the brightness on your screen?
I have kind of stopped following the threads that I used to for a bit. At least until curse puts back my side bar with the list of watched threads....grrr.....

@Everyone: Does this look better?
OOh, very nice. But I agree with sheep, I did like the other one. Although it reminded me of... urgh I can't think... it's midnight... anyways, I like both, I would add more filth to it. fungi, dirt, moss, etc. But I love Nether with this pack. It's looks epic.
EDIT: I own this page!!!!!!! everyone must use the letter q in their post!
Down in the bowels of the castle, locked away in a forgotten dungeon, Nightshade blossoms from the remains of those long dead...
Beautiful. Reminds me of dorians creepy sad flowers. Except I want you eat yours, and make tea, and perfume, and dry it and burn it as incense, and make a necklace out of it, and a crown... and cake

"Oh my, what a wonderful cake this is! And how lovely it tastes! I wish I could eat the whole thing....but I'm starting to feel a bit sleepy....maybe I'll just going lie down for a moment...."
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how soulsand regenerates in the nether. :biggrin.gif:
Earlier, did you mean that you liked the grid netherrack better?
EDIT: The quick quail squashed the quarellous cupquake. XD

I don't think so. Although I don't actually know which I like better now...

Curse PremiumNether bricks shouldn't be too red btw, if they are nice and dark then they make some seriously kickass castles in the overworld!
