It is just a pre-release, so there's hope yet. And at least it's possible to remove the squidward noses from the models?
Either way, I'm very much hoping you don't leave; your texture packs are up there in my favourites and I very much admir your...forum activism? :tongue.gif:
Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. :biggrin.gif:
I'm still going to finish the 1.8 stuff, I just don't care for texturing the 1.9 stuff. Doing so would only be validating it.
Although the mushroom islands with their fungus cows are starting to grow on me (pun, haha)...if only my worlds weren't so ugly now because of the swamp recoloring. Doesn't help that about a third of the terrain ends up being swamp. :\
It's a prerelease. Chill. Is it worth it to download it?
Um....well, the mushroom biomes are kinda cool if you can actually find one. :smile.gif: They're a bit rare.
I might actually get around to reskinning the mushroom biome textures sometime soon, haha. I've got a lot of ideas running around through my head. :biggrin.gif:
I agree that 1.9 isn't that great, but when I noticed the pre-release was released, my first thought was how early it was. I doubt it's anywhere close to finished, it'll probably change.
And I like the mushroom biomes, too, but I find it a bit depressing. Those infected cows, I think of how they're thinking like in Mother 3, everything is all messed up and they're probably scared. :sad.gif:
The only thing I think looks good about the update is nether stuff. And only the structures, not the mobs.
The rest of it looks bad imo :/ they need to fix a ton of stuff.

Yeah I'm actually pretty excited that they put in nether structures, I just wish they had treasure or something inside-- some real reason to explore them, you know.
And although I like the idea of a wraith-like mob that sets you on fire, that blaze thing is just....ick. I want to re-texture it, if only to make it less **** yellow.
And I cannot stress enough how much the swamp biome discoloration needs to be fixed. It needs to blend in better with the biomes around it, and for the love of god, IT NEEDS TO BE EDITABLE! I lack the words to describe how eye-blisteringly ugly it is at the moment.

But they certainly are interesting.
Nooo... Now I feel sad about the poor cows...
Oh well, I'll just have to make the mushroom grass something less gray and depressing then. And I'll have to make the infected cows look happy-go-lucky. (Cause hey, come on, they're surrounded by mushrooms for goodness sake. And mushrooms can be used for all sorts of fun things. ^^)
I'm sure they'll fix the biomes not blending properly. Has anyone checked the texture file that has the biome colors in it to see if the problem might lie there? I would but I haven't downloaded it.

Already done. The colors are hard-coded at the moment, which means I can't change them (and you can't see the changes) without the use of some as-of-yet unmade mod.
EDIT: Although I am having fun fooling around with retexturing the mushroom biome. :]
Hmmmm your 1.9 stuff looks fantastic... *engage jealousy drives*
Oh and for the new fire mob (blaze?), making it shards of spinning crystals or rock with cores of lava would be epic. If you don't use that idea then I will! (totally your loss, it's going to be a crowd winner for sure :wink.gif:)

I've already started working on something just like that. So-- DIBS!
I like how you didn't give up and just worked with what you have :smile.gif: . I myself won't update to 1.9 unless it's completely the opposite of the pre-release, so could you keep an active 1.8 texture pack too? (since you seem to hate 1.9pre too, I hop you don't mind)
Nothing from 1.8 is being changed or erased, so the new versions will still be compatible with 1.8. :smile.gif:
As said there's hope for that the official 1.9 will be better,i've discontinued DiaCraft, but thats cause i dont have much time to work on it.
I'm actually starting to seriously believe that a large part of the 1.9 'pre-release' is a troll in response to the outrage over 1.8. I have a bit of evidence to that effect, which I may start a thread about later...

Outrage over 1.8? O.o
I thought 1.8 was really good...xD

Retired StaffIf not: Well, I have absolutely no intention of reskinning snow men or crazy looking monks.

Retired Staff0_o ....that would definitely explain this update. Both the inspiration, and the apparent high when creating it.

Retired StaffFirst and foremost, a mushroom biome overhaul. No more desolate gray grass. :biggrin.gif:
..........
Other stuff:
This is probably the only time I could get a screenshot where the swamp coloring looks kinda cool. In a moody, wasteland sort of way.
A screenshot of the mega castle me and Kabonos have been working on.
I call it: Kabonos and the Enderman.
And yes, they did live happily ever after. :3
