Fan of the pack? On the fence about it? Want more changes? Help me out!
What should I do for paintings? I just did 1 more painting, and redid rail related stuff, and want redo more paintings before I release another update, but have no ideas on what to do... anybody have any requests? :smile.gif:
Currently I need to do:
3 1x1s
5 2x1s
2 1x2s
1 4x2
5 2x2s
1 4x3
3 4x4s
So, request in the format
Description: (idea) Colors: (cool colors, lots of cyan, ect.) Size: (painting size, see spoiler above)
Once I have all of the paintings done, I will release the (Rail and paintings update!) so make a request, and it will be here faster!
EDIT: +1s will be given to good requests, that result in a painting. They don't have to be complex either, something like
Description: A guy eating a sandwich in space Colors: Mainly deep purple, with dots of red, yellow and blue (stars) Size: 4x4

I think this Texture pack is pretty good! I like the stone and the ores a lot.
I have a few suggestions to make though: the cactus should not have red around the spikes.
And I think the obsidian should be more natural looking, like this: but otherwise;
This is kinda vague, but i think all the paintings should be landscapes.
Hello! Not a painting suggestion, but I just redownloaded the texture pack (I had been using the default one because I was on a server so much and I wanted to see how the vanilla blocks would look when building) and I'm loving it and never leaving it again! The only thing I've noticed that bothers me is that the lapis lazuli blocks have smiley faces on them that look weird if they're used as a building material for walls and stuff.

I had a cactus once, and it had white spikes that turned red near the ends (so that's the explain),
as for obsidian, I tried to make it look "crystallized" to explain why it takes so long to break, and has such a high explosive resistance, as in real life it is half as hard as diamond (so that is why it looks like it does), given my slight amount of pixel-artiness I practiced for the rock update, I think I'll redo it eventually (with the same explanation :tongue.gif:).
And I might do a landscape for a painting. But not yet, as that is very vague (if I don't get more directive, I'll make one when I have more paintings done) :smile.gif:

Really? Awesome! So you like the new changes? More feedback on them?
Sorry about the lapis lazuli block. I was trying to make a texture for it that made it look like real lapis lazuli, but it was starting to make me angry, I'll try again eventually.
But have you seen what I've done with wool? Not just noise anymore! Actual designs, and I'm sure most people build with wool more than lapis! Who builds with lapis? :tongue.gif:
Once again, what do you think of the changes? How far back were you? I never got any feedback for changes I made (like on the unordered list on post #83)...

Updated! (Rails update!) Check out the changelog spoiler!
Also: I've been working on villager skins, so next update will either be (Art update!) or (Villager update!) whichever I finish first. I Finished 1 4x4 painting so far :smile.gif:
however, still need ideas/requests for:

I think you should change the cobblestone/mosstone textures; they're similarity to the stone texture it too great, and could be confusing
I can see what you mean by this, I might reduce the contrast of stone in the future, but I think if you're paying attention it's perfectly clear, cobblestone actually has highlights and cracks, but stone does not really have these, as it has a much lower contrast as it is. People (including myself) like cobblestone and stone to tile. (and honestly, I don't think it's an issue at all with moss stone)

I hadn't used the pack for a while, and yes. I love the new wool. :biggrin.gif: I actually substituted the lapis blocks for wool in my building. But as far as the changes you made a while back, I don't think I got to look at the texture pack too in-depth with them, sadly. (I've had my spare time eaten up by homework from my lovely English professor. >.>) I just love how bright and fresh things are in the pack, things are light, but not too much, if that makes sense. The stone and cobblestone actually blend well together, which is one thing I always found odd about the original Minecraft textures.
Also, were the thorns always on roses? I never noticed that before! Nice touch! I really can't find fault with the pack, other than the lapis block, but that's really not an issue. (Perhaps a blue-er reskin of your current diamond block would work? It looks pretty neat.) Glancing at the changes on post 83, I think (at least, in my opinion), they're all pretty awesome. :biggrin.gif: I do love that new furnace texture. (Sorry if this post is a bit tangential; I'm writing a paper while looking at this forum. XD I probably shouldn't procrastinate.)
Also, a new nether brick texture that I am absolutely proud of, and an amazing screenshot to match! It is now my desktop background!
Also, a few other minor changes.

EDIT: I love the new lapis block texture. It looks great as a building material, and artistically inserting glowstone into a wall of it for lighting looks pretty neat. The nether brick blocks look pretty awesome. I still have yet to find a nether fortress, so I can't see how they look naturally, but I hacked in a stack and built a small wall of them. Definitely something to look forward to! The new obsidian texture looks pretty sweet, too! Time to rebuild my panic room out of obsidian. :smile.gif:
Updated. Leaves are redone, cobblestone & stone have been made much better, and the new iron bars texture is epic. Perfect for railings, jailings, sewer grates, barred windows and cages. The nether wart texture smartly fits the model it uses, as well.
Enjoy, and tell me what you think of all of the changes!

wow, this is good stuff. downloading it now and testing it out.
edit: ok so.....
I love the grass! It's so greeeeeen. overall it's looking great. I think you can tell on some things how far you've come as an artist in creating these textures. The obsidian (as said before) looks outdated, like maybe you created it before and you've grown since then. and the sandstone just looks like sand. Maybe add some kind of texture to it? And I didn't really see a difference in color in some of the new wood color variations. the regular one and the one from the jungle trees to be exact. Anyways, those are what I noticed in the 5 minutes I tested it. The wool looks good too. I hate giving feedback because I don't want people to get discouraged. I like your pack, and I like the way it's going. So please, keep going!

I love getting feedback because well... it's feedback. Unless something is really good or really bad, I rarely hear the same thing twice. Everyone has something different to say. It doesn't discourage me one bit. It does however, when I don't get any posts for weeks, and I get like 3 downloads after a major update.
I have been in the process of switching between making new textures, and re-creating older ones. I recently redid Iron block and gold block. They are one of the things I did first, but I mostly used the gradient tool. I have re-created them from scratch (no gradient tool).
The result was a much cleaner, shinier, and overall better looking set of textures.
I have applied the same (manual) gradient to the iron door (from scratch) and have mostly done so for the minecart. Expect these changes in a future update.

Hey, Insomniac! I think my forum subscription-thing bugged, because I haven't seen posts here in ages! But anyway, Just got the pack again for 1.2.5. I really missed it. I love the changes to cobblestone and regular stone. I almost like the look of the cobblestone better! It makes my mob trap look like less of an eyesore, that's for sure! The plank textures blend together nicely, too! A checkerboard-pattern floor might look pretty good with the planks. (Making a note to experiment with that now.) The new leaves are epic! I like the red color that leaves get in the desert. (Was that always in?) It'd make for spooky-looking trees in the Nether! The bowl texture kinda irks me, though. This is the first time I've spawned in a new world and found a Mooshroom biome, so I've been eating mushroom soup. Lots and lots of soup. The bowls look like buckets to me, but I guess when Steve's hungry, he gets hungry. XD
Also, have you ever considered doing a texture pack for a mod like Equivalent Exchange to go alongside this one? I love the glowstone texture here, but it looks strange next to EE's energy collectors.
Thank you for your time, and for making this awesome texture pack!
EDIT: Also, do you mind if I modify the items.png and add icons for a few items one of my mods does? I won't redistribute it or anything. Mystcraft adds a few icons for books onto the items.png and with the texture pack they're invisible. (It took me about ten minutes to figure out why that was. XD)

Same here, I don't get proper emails from it, only PMs that I've already read :/ Changes since when? Overhaul changes, or recent changes? I don't recall you commenting on the new cobble/stone but I don't know :/
Also:
Yes, you are correct:
Also, I have screenshots of recolored leaves using my modified biome colors from last june.
Next update includes better buckets, and bowls (that are much better).and many other icons. Maybe. Depends on what the theme is. But, most likely. I can post screenshots if you want to see. But, as far as updates, must stop procrastination on college homework :/
Bowls are the size of buckets because they have the same crafting recipe. Bowls are also made with cubic meters of wood, whereas buckets aren't made with cubic meters of iron. Even making multiple, the bowls should be bigger
No, I do not use mods so I do not texture for them. If I were to add mod support, it would be for a mod specifically aimed at texture pack makers
(EDIT:
I say this very loosely. I design my texture pack for vanilla Minecraft because that is what I play. I generally would not texture things that I do not use because not only do I not support them, but because I don't use them, I am less prone to catching mistakes. So even if I did add mod support, it probably wouldn't be very good. That's one of the things that makes editing textures so easy for me. VTC is my pack and it is what I use when playing MC. If I wasn't playing MC or using VTC while doing so throughout, my pack wouldn't be where it is today. Ramblings for thought.
). I also took a look at EE and it feels fairly unbalanced/overpowered, which gives me even more of an excuse not to support it.
However, yes you can edit in you mod files if you do not redistribute my textures. I'm perfectly fine with that. And, seeing my unlikelihood of supporting any mods you may be using (such as EE) feel free to add those in for yourself as well. No distribution and it's all fine.
Also, don't forget to look at the README. It explains why the biome stuff is like it is
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly.

I think the last time I used your pack was 1.1 (I didn't play Minecraft much through 1.2.3 and 1.2.4; I mainly played on my Minecraft server, and I don't use a texture pack on that anyway), so I missed a lot of changes since then. I hadn't seen the new cobble/stone textures until I downloaded it again the other day. I believe that the last update to the texture pack that I saw was when you redid the Lapis Lazuli block texture from the smiley face-looking one to the brick-looking texture. And speaking of bricks, the stone brick textures look really awesome, as do the mob eggs. I like the style.
Logically speaking, the bowl/bucket thing makes sense. I didn't think about it that way. EE is definitely overpowered when you get past the first few items. The flight ring is awesome, though to each their own. I might give modifying the EE textures a shot; it'll be something to do.
I know what you mean about procrastination; I ended up playing Minecraft just about all week, and ended up writing the outline for one of my speeches the night before. Lol. Anywho, sorry for the delayed response! Have a good weekend!
Big update, including animations that turned out better than expected. Tell me what you think!

'Ello! I took a day (or so) to experiment with the new update. I love the new reticule. (Pretty sure that's not the correct spelling.) The Enderpearl and the particles that float around when you throw it are really neat! Buckets and bowls both look a lot cleaner. Also, I love the new TNT explosion. The smoke particles also look a lot better. I like how redstone torches emit red particles. The new iron/gold blocks look pretty sweet. I haven't used them for anything yet in my new world. I'll have to think of something. XD The new textures for the ingots will take a bit of getting used to, but the 3d-ish effect is nice. I wish I could comment on the Minecart stuff, but I really haven't used them enough to form an opinion on them. I'm indifferent to the blaze/blazerod changes; they look fine to me either way.
dude u da beast from tha middle east awesome epic texture pack loving it and gonna advertise it to my buds ty for the sick texture pack if u make any more please send me a msg i wud love to get more like these ty bro or sis keep craftin!!!!!

I’d rather be in, in a good system. That’s where my discontent comes from:
being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin’ straight ahead.
