Inspired by what seems to be numerous other time based texture challenges.
Rules:
You may prepare beforehand, but no physical pixel insertion may take place until the timer starts.
You may only do this alone. With the shades pulled.
A brown square is not acceptable. Sorry clean packers.
Nor is a brown square with a few darker or lighter brown lines. Honest to god people, put in some effort.
If you can make a video of the process, that might actually be kinda cool.
If you don't think this is remotely amusing, you should probably go rent a sense of humor. Using bitcoin.
The three-hour texture pack challenge is an interesting and tasking way to broaden your skills and potentially start a new pack. This is just silly, and you're aware of that.
Nothing of quality could result from this! At least make it a 5-minute challenge.

1: You're damn right it's silly.
2: I bet there are a bunch of people who can pull it off with quality results.
3: If they do capture the process in a video, we will get a peek into their method and can learn something new.
To the prior two posts, yes, planks. And for the sake of completeness, you may go over the time limit, but you have to save a copy at the 1 minute mark for purposes of viewing your awesomeness.
I gave it a go, way too little time to accomplish anything decent. It's funny since you talk down simplistic attempts, yet there isn't enough time to produce anything else, even after laying out the palette beforehand. Have you attempted your own constraints? Maybe, maybe if MSPaint had a shortcut for the eyedropper I could have pulled it off, but I doubt it.
I accept your challenge.
*1 minute 1 second later*
I have failed your challenge
norly, I accept. Will be making wood planks. using graphics gale, 16x16
Edit: I took 1 minute 2 seconds =3
Reduced it to 59 seconds with my magical editing powers
Camtasia didn't record my mouse properly :sad.gif:
I had a palette set beforehand & a background. only used the pencil tool cuz I'm pro.

I will give you +1 for the challenge name though.
Yeah, I'm planning on doing it. I haven't had any time to sit down today though. Which is a lousy excuse seeing as it only will take a minute, but you're just gonna have to take it.
Oh, thanks for noticing the name. Honestly, I was thinking I put all that effort into it for nothing.
Hehe. I've noticed a lot of people like the high contrast stuff. Never been my thing (if you look at my pack it's quite obvious). Plus I hate using the noise filter and leaving it as is. That just seems wrong.
Oh, and I'm still editing it, like an idiot. Small shadow under the horizontal plank really makes it stand out, its quite lovely.
Everyone does realize that I made this topic as a joke right?

Curse PremiumPardon the shoddy youtube quality. Surely there's a better place to upload media.
I'm gonna put a few more minutes into this and see what happens.
Also, that's awesome kabonos.

Curse PremiumThank you :-)
Here's the final product
So that's about 21 minutes total.
On graphics tablets, yeah, I totally use em. They suck for placing pixels, but when it comes to manually varying transparency, I need it.
