Hello everyone. I apologize if this is a duplicate thread, but I didn't find anything.
Basically, I know how to create a standard texture pack, but I can't seem to figure out how to create a custom made 256 (or even 128) HD pack. I looked around for good tutorials, but cannot come up with anything solid. If anyone knows of one, please feel free to link it.
Does anyone here have experience creating HD packs or have a tutorial on it?
Do you want to know how to make the grid size smaller so that the pixels will be smaller?
I don't believe so, no.
What I need is to find out how I can create higher-resolution textures. I already know how to create standard sized textures through the minecraft.jar file. However, the resolution on the items is the standard size, and I want to create a fancy 256x256 resolution pack. I've used many of the 256 packs before, but I am not sure that I understand how to create them.
What I mean is: I have tried to take the terrain file and edit it with high resolution photos (obviously scaled down to size) but it just comes out looking chunky, pixelated and awful. So, how can I create those smooth textures that are 256x256?
Resize the terreain.png from 256x256 to 4096x4096. This will make all the blocks/items 256x256.
Well, that worked. At least on the textures I had re-skinned. The rest looked stretched out and blurry. Guess that means I am gonna have to re-skin everything.
Thank you for that!
Does anyone know the dimensions I'd need to do for other things as well? Like mobs, sun/moon etc? (Basically, I want to re-skin everything on my own and create a complete texture pack)

4096px4096px is 8x 16 times the resoultion of Minecraft's original terrain. So you if you want, you can make the other textures 8x 16 times bigger.

(Make sure you have the resampling set to nearest neighbor this will keep the textures from looking blurry and stretched)
