The lever is great, I know it is a small thing but often it is the small things that count.
I really like your glowstone and glass. Since Minecraft is about building the texture should be for building and yours are. :smile.gif:
The overall feel of the pack is great. It appeals to me.
I love the smooth stone. It makes caves look like lava tubes. :smile.gif:
I also really like the grass, but I seem to remember you saying something about them being from the john smith pack. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
As I was walking through my winter town thing I noticed the sides of the dirt block. Great job on the permafrost look.
Things I didn't like (this is purely opinion:
well, for one, anything that uses the default XD
Also, the long grass is a bit flat. maybe, if 32x will allow it, put some highlights along the tops and edges of the grass.
Not a big fan of the Netherrack. It tiles well and looks decent but... I don't know really.
Other than that I didn't see anything that jumped out at me. Overall I think this is a really good pack.
Holy crap, and I thought I was keeping up with the topic. :ohmy.gif:
Anyways, I don't have anything really to say about the pack, I love how it is so far, and it all seems to blend in perfectly, no flaws that I can see myself.
And of course all mods would be done after the vanilla textures are done, I knew that before I asked. :tongue.gif:
Yep, that 1 better idea vote was mine, I was gonna say yes, then no, then thought both, with an alternate terrain.png for the best of both worlds. :biggrin.gif:

ah good points. Nether I am thinking about changing as I am not happy about it. Hmm I did try adding shading to the tall grass but it didn't turn out right, I may take another look at it. Thanks for the review. P.s. I am doing separate replies as I am on my phone.

Excellent. I'm fairly I i will do better nether textures and keep these ones as alternates.
Here is an edited long grass texture, I think it looks decent, though you can't tell until it is in the terrain.png. I thought I could give it a slight highlight and see how it comes out for you Dorian. :biggrin.gif:
-I absolutely adore the dark fairy-tale aspect of this pack. The detailing on the doors, glass, and ladders; the ancient feel of the cobble and planks-- all of these little touches come together to create a world right out of 'the portrait of Dorian Grey'. Which is why the name of this pack is particularly fitting, I think. :smile.gif:
-The shading and detail work done on many of the blocks is absolutely fantastic-- stone and pine bark in particular appear to be 64x in their level of artistic quality. Very nicely done.
-I love how the leaves on the reeds and the thorns on the cactus really jump out at you. Nice touch.
-Your ores are fantastic, particularly the gold and diamond ore, which both look very luscious and expensive.
-The shape of your wheat is unusual, and very pleasing to look at because of it.
-A adore the rustic, haunted attic feel of your chests. Excellent job.
-Long grass- again, not what is normally seen, but I feel it works well here. It might need just a touch more contrast, however. Other than that it's perfect.
-The planks in this version are a great improvement over the toothpick thin planks in the last version. I especially like that you kept the detail at the corners.
-The stone, dirt, and gravel have a great synergy together, and cave diving is a real pleasure with this pack.
-The water is moody and dark, and fits perfectly with the rest of the pack. I really like that its patterning is different from the usual sparkling criss-cross lines.
-Your rails have a very nice design, ornate without going overboard.
-Pistons are nicely detailed and work well with the theme. I'm jealous. :\
Things that need improvement:
As I don't have any 'big issues' that I feel need to be changed about this pack, I'm going to skip straight to nit-picks. Be warned, however-- it's a long list.
Nitpicks:
-The iron ore should be darker/less yellow. It looks too much like gold at the moment.
-The sand should be a bit darker-- it stands out too much from the gloomy landscape.
-Along the same lines as the sand, the brightness of the birch bark should be toned down a bit, and/or more contrast should be added. Although it looks very beautiful up close, from a distance it simply looks like a white square.
-The flowers, particularly the yellow flower, are far too bright and cheery.
-The detailing along the bottom of the bed is very nicely done, but the covers and pillow look a little plain when compared to the ornate windows and doors.
-The wools should perhaps have a little more texture to them-- right now they are a bit too smooth, and it took me a minute to recognize them as wools.
-Although I love the design of your forge, it's difficult to tell where the fire pit is on the unlit version. Try making the hollow space inside darker so that it screams 'I am a hollow space'.
-Your grass, dirt, and cobble all have small problems with patterning, as highlighted below:
The grass has a repeated 'v' shape that sticks out like a sore thumb, the dirt has a line of smaller stones running horizontally across the block, and the gravel has one smeared line that should probably be broken up.
-Your netherrack is interestingly designed, well executed...but it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's just too orange, maybe it's just too busy, but for whatever reason I don't particularly like it.
-I almost liked your glowstone better when it had a slight pink/orange cast. It looks a bit too washed out now.
-The cracks on your halfblocks look more like folds in a piece of cloth than cracks. I'd advise you to go back, take them out, then put them back in again with a pencil tool, so that you can get the sharpness you need to suggest cracks.
And the nitpick of nitpicks:
If I were you, I'd make the red coloring of the redstone torch and the booster rails a little more saturated. They look too gray and washed out right now.
Overall Impressions:
This is a wonderful pack. Beautiful, evocative, inspirational. With just a few touch ups, I think it will be one of the best packs on the forums.
To Dorian: Sorry, I'm a little behind on your banner. These reviews are taking me longer than I thought. 0_o
Cool, I was reading about how people think it needs a tad more shading, specifically at the top, so I thought I would give it a quick shot and if it is what was being mentioned and he liked it he could have it, after all, about 30 seconds of tweaking isn't a big deal to me. :tongue.gif:
oh THAT tall grass sonlen. I thought you meant the other one with the droopy blue bells on it.
expect this space to change with more replies when I get home tonight. Currently in a hurry but thanks for the replies guys, I will get back to you in a few hours.

Wow that was a fantastic read. Those pictures show some big tiling issues, how the hell did I miss that in the dirt. Will be fixing that and putting it in 0.8 for sure. Gosh, and yeah the gravel I have been meaning to fix for ages! And grass will be getting a redo, I have learnt some new tricks so I will be redoing that as well.
Iron is on the cards to fix. As are the flowers.
The bed is definitely a beta. (and you missed the fact that the legs look all bung)
The forge has been on my list to redo. I loved the idea, but your right about the visuals. I will do another take on that sometime.
The sand... hmmmmm you may be right, but It makes such a great contrasting floor. And the birch I will detail a bit better and try and bring it to be a bit more golden than white, I dont want to put too much colour in it though. I may try to make it look more rounded so it has more depth.
I think I need to watch alladin again to get my sand right :wink.gif:
Goodness there is so much good feedback in there steel feathers! thanks mate. I really appreciate this. There is a lot to look into and you pointed out a lot of refining that I have already written down myself, which makes me feel fantastic inside (a little of bit of artists telepathy)
As for the nether, the poll is a definite winner to change, and I will keep the old ones as alternates for people to use (as I will try to do for as many textures as I can)

thanks for that sonlen. I really want to do something better for that tall grass, and I think I will, but all in good time. Thanks for the fix for now, I will put it at the bottom of the main post if thats ok by you? credit with that of course.
be sure to download this! its truly a great pack :biggrin.gif:
Thanks Rooster! Your video has been added to the OP with credit to you. It looks fantastic and shows my pack off really well, thanks. Everyone, go watch it... NOW
Whoop! Can't wait to see the cathedral-style nether.
OH golly neither can I. have done about 4 or 5 textures so far, and none of them have been quite what I wanted, which is unique but also usable for more things.

If only you could make lava in the nether a different color then the surface world. :ohmy.gif:
Anyways, I can't wait to see the new nether either.

the lava I have been working on fits quite well in the new nether.
I seriously hope the nether is getting more too it when 1.8 comes out cause at the moment glowstone is the only reason I take trips there..
aether textures? I thank you for the bump but I really have no idea what drug you are on sir.
