Oh, hey. I didn't see that you posted more screenshots on the last page! Silly me!
The obsidian looks great, and new top-grass is pretty good!
Iron blocks are a little too similar to mossy cobblestone for my tastes, personally. ...But maybe that will change once I can actually compare the two better.
Sorted it out. It was a trick glance, another good look corrected me. They're both fine!
The new OP is nice as well, didn't see that either. I'm not fond of the whole front-faced block style that people use to be honest, but that's just personal preference. It doesn't bug me, I just think you could do something more creative/epic.
I like the direction this is all heading though. 0.8 is looking good so far! Keep it up!
Just love the flawless dirt/dirt grass. The glowstone is great also! I just think the new iron block seems a bit to much like cardbaord (just from the shot...I really need to download and play with it a bit to really see it all though).

I actually redid mossy cobble cause it looked to similar to what I wanted for the iron block (which I am still not happy with either)
Yeah the New Op was really just to clean it up. I will try and achieve something better for 0.8, but for now its alot easier to navigate, and its doesn't feel like its been made with paint.
Thanks for the feedback giffca, helpful as always! have a

:wink.gif:
Yes... yes it does. Gosh I can't win with it hahaha. I need to highlight it better, but it ends up looking plastic. I think I need to go peruse glimmars pack for insight into how to make iron objects.
Cheers for the feed back, I may not get a lot of comments for this pack but at least they aren't just twelve year olds yelling 'OMG I LOVe this will TOTZ downld.' these forums cease to amaze me.

You deserve it! This pack is great.
I don't have any diamonds to give you, but I just bumped your thread. :tongue.gif:
Hey, feedback is good! I might as well give it, because if anyone else is like me, they'll get irritated without it.
You deserve it! This pack is great.
I don't have any diamonds to give you, but I just bumped your thread. :tongue.gif:
wooo free bumps! you my friend have surpassed the gift giving of diamonds. My brain has hit artistic block right now so I am eating dinner and clicking refresh on the forums a lot... it scares me reading some of the threads that exist... it truly does. I am not sure how people get so stupid.
Looks great, I hope you will do items/mobs too. :smile.gif: But lower the anti-aliasing a bit and make them a little rougher.
ha ha ha cheers mate. Its not anti-aliasing its just not having refined edges and harsh shadows. Some of the textures need it I know. Which ones were you thinking of in particular?
I don't really know which ones in particular, but for some reason the furnace stone looks a bit like cloth to me. It could need some roughness.
Edit: Cheers mate + Australia = true! :biggrin.gif:
ha ha ha yes 'mate' is quite a common term here, but then it depends where you go. Hmmm.. furnace stone... as in the side or the just the actual stone that i used for the furnace in general. Sorry to nit pick, I'm just trying to look at it and see the same thing, rather than fixing the wrong thing ahaha.
This is going to be tough. I have a feeling that you, Steelfeathers and I might finish our packs at the same time. I have no idea which one will end up being my default. I like them all so much :biggrin.gif:
If I had found either of these before I started working on mine I may have never started in the first place.

Like I said though...all i saw was the screen. When I get in game and run around, I might have a better feel for it as well as better feedback. I usually do the metallic texture first, then manipulate it into the block I want. This keeps the metallic grain throughout.
*Edit - is the newest download up with those blocks?
I hope you don't mind me posting your textures, but this is mostly the thing I'm talking about. With some hue changes to the Wayukian pack bed you can probably see why I think it looks like cloth.
Ah yes I see what you mean. Yeah I have been meaning to redo that for a long time. It has always looked awful. hahah. Thank you for reminding me leostereo, you are 100% correct :smile.gif:
EDIT - the top of it has already been redone if you look through some of the recent previews :wink.gif:
This looks awesome Dorian! It'll be great when you get it finished as long as you keep it up :biggrin.gif:
thank you, I need more of these comments for my ego :wink.gif: (sorry these are not individually tailored comments for you as the comments are rather similar. Take it that I love you both evenly... here fight over a )

Golly I have no idea when this will be done. Hopefully will be able to settle in for an evening today and work on getting closer to 0.8. oh and It would be a hard choice, I struggle working on my pack when I can run around and look at all the pretty things that feathers has made haha.

Now that is a good thought. I will perhaps make a metallic texture and see if I can melt the two a bit. That perhaps might get a great, or awful result. Only time will tell.
As for the new blocks, no, they will be included in 0.8, Which I have done enougnh to be happy to release, but I think I might make the release to be friday.
On a side note...
Its nice to see a bit of support for this pack when I wake up in the morning so thank you guys. I am very tempted with the state of these forums and the amount of noobs/trolls/10yr old that shouldn't be using the internet/just downright idiots and seeming lack of moderators that I am tempted to make my pack privately, but I dont really want to do that to the people who are supporting my pack and have given such great feedback. I really want something to be done about a remix sub forum, the community outlook is clear on it, yet here in the texture forums we get neglected. /rant.

+1 support for this rant. But don't take your pack down! :0 We as a community need more solid artwork like this.
But to the side notes, I wouldn't say this forum lacks moderators as it sometimes don't take more that 2-3 minutes until an advertisement/spam thread is gone. Anyway, a remix forum AND a finished texture pack forum would be great, much like the released mods section.
Also, call me Leo :cool.gif:
oooo first name basis. Do I have to buy you dinner or something now? perhaps you may have tea with glimmar and I sometime.
Yes some subforums would be nice for the texture packs. Yes the mods do a good job, sometimes. I was on yesterday and did about 20-30 reports for misconduct that were all against forums rules, bumping without reason to, posting packs without permission, using adfly on work that isn't your own. 90% of those threads are still open and 50-60% of the people reported are still posting the same crap. I honestly don't get it. Perhaps its cause you don't see when someone is kick for a few days or banned.... but it just seems to keep getting worse.
That and the amount of people who need gratification for making a block 1 single colour with a second colour around the outside of that block, ****ing bewilders me. I sink hours into my squares as does glimm, you, feathers and all the other decent artist, and yet someone paints something that looks like what I do in the toilet after drinking and people fall head over heels and tell them its awesome.... insane.
again /rant
(I may remove these comments once you have read them cause I seem like a bitching 12yr old girl right now hahah)
Maybe you should apply as a moderator? That would certainly work well against those drunk toilet textures. :tongue.gif: Anyway you should be happy to have reached 14 pages in your thread in less that a month, which is very good! Cheers mate! :biggrin.gif:
I am, I am. I do sound awfully ungrateful... which is not the case. I am just disheartened. Oh and I have applied to be a mod, with no response.
Absolutely every statement you've made in your "quote on quote" (with
quotations around the stating of quoting the quote :smile.gif:, rant, are correct.
I simply don't see the gratification in posting texture packs in which
require no "skill" to be created. Then with that said, these creators go forth
and post an adfly link to download there texture pack, which probably didn't
have pictures until a Gent. like you or Lilyo, Steelfeathers, or whomever,
points out that you need pics and such.
It's just mindboggled how people can look at there texture pack created
with or without a pre-made palette of 2-3 colors, and say "man this looks great".
With that said, I don't want to sound overly rude against people that take time
out of their day to work on stuff like this texturing "thing", but there is a point
where I draw lines, and it seems like you do, yourself.
My main problems with this forum at the moment are primarily problems with the
people on this forum. People who go ahead and post links to a copied, unoriginal
texture pack that would make them money. Or people that go ahead and post packs
with two textures created in a whole hour, thinking it will be the next great pack.
There IS a standard that needs to be instituted and people like yourself, and Steelfeathers
are constantly reflecting this with the work you put out for public use on your own time.
It's a shame no one takes the important things into consideration. Mean while
I'm still working on some textures, 4 months+ later, that I'm still un-content with.
You should honestly become a moderator, for your work is far above the intermediate
standard I desire. The way you go about this forum is truly remarkable. Even if it's
just explaining the rules to learning users.
Thanks for your hard work with this pack and in general Dorian!
It's coming along *amazing!*
Awesome, I hope to see you as a moderator some day! :biggrin.gif: And I suppose you applied to the texture packs section as there's only one moderator so far here (mango7), and he can't keep up this whole sub-forum himself.
I did indeed, it has had 1 view, which I think was mine.
Holy crap I completely missed your reply before, you must have clicked add reply like .0000000001 seconds before me hahah. I really appreciate your kind words and I am glad I am not the only one. I want to encourage people to get into this thing I love called pixel art now, but people have to take a step back and think about what they are doing first, maybe you don't need artist talent to make these things, but a background of doing art helps, I think also having an understanding of the technology your using helps, for example, knowing how to get your textures working in MC in the first place. Some... and that is a very small few, of the 'smooth' packs look quite good, but they are not smooth at all, they have cute little detailings and stuff. Xaiwaker I think it is called is a smooth 16x16 pack that I really enjoy. The other thing is people need to start being respectful with edits and crediting, If it it not your work, then clearly state so. I have it right near the top of my OP that the grass and foliage color are johnsmiths and that I have direct permission from him. I even feel bad that I haven't got a link to his pack so I may do that soon.
wow... I am clearly losing my mind lately. Thanks for the kind words again #rant
I hope you add the compatibily with BTW mod <3 I REALLY like this pack =] Very original =] <3
Is that better than wolves? As I don't personally play with any mods (not aether or BTW or CTM... not even wild grass anymore) Mod support is quite low for me... but If the community want to come up with support for these I am more than happy to credit them and add a section to my main post for mods, I will not accept my textures being used outside this thread without my permission however, just so I can keep track of things.
Well I am currently working on making a mod that might just go with your idea for the diamond block (dragon's lair treasure idea you mentioned) so you might ought to stick with that idea. ;P
Also, awesome work and keep it all up, I have nothing really to say other then great work on it. :biggrin.gif:
