aether textures? I thank you for the bump but I really have no idea what drug you are on sir.
Hahaha, wow, seems like that or someone is replying to the wrong topic. He won't be doing Aether until the vanilla textures are done, and not even 100% guarantee then either.

ha ha ha that is the second one. Oh well, free bump.
Also here is a progress update on what I have been attempting with the nether, dont treat this as final, treat this as a time to give FEEDBACK!
here you are.
the lava will not be staying like that, I just got sick of the default so I whipped up a quickie.
The soulsand looks pretty cool as a building block, but I'm not sure how I feel about the netherack...it would only look good in a vertical column...
Are you still trying for the cathedral theme?
Indeed but as there is only 3 blocks to texture i am realising how hard it is. The nether really is the most boring place in the game. So I kind of went more on the block you could use to build a cathedral. Marble pillars and Wrought Iron around marble squares (enchanted by the elder-monks to slow thieves) And of course the ever so precious light stone.

What would you do with the netherrack?
EDIT - oh I have light versions of both also.
I guess if you're just using them for building materials then they look great. I'm not really a nether explorer myself XP
What would I do for the netherrack? No clue. I usually have no idea what a texture is going to look like until after I've made it :biggrin.gif:
PS: The new lightstone is looking cool, from what I can see of it.

I am pretty happy with the lightstone. I have lightened the soul sand a touch, I really think I like the dark column, it grew on me. And doesn't make hell look awful either.... well.. maybe.
In a hope of convincing people these work, here is my renovated storeroom
I am loving the new textures so far, and that image shows how nice of a building material it can be.
P.S. I can't believe how I watch the thread for a couple hours, then I get busy for a couple hours, and there are a few posts... Anyways, the important thing is that I give feedback and bump some. :tongue.gif:

well I'm truly glad you like it. Did you see the pics of them in hell, they dont look too bad do they? They are so good to build with I just don't think I could change them. I would love more feedback though... hint hint people.
I like the idea of using the nether blocks as building blocks, but to convert an entire realm into a wasteland of pillars and decorative blocks isn't the greatest idea in the world to me. Because of this, I don't like the netherrack and the soulsand. The idea is good, but it really doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I preferred your old orange netherrack tiles, personally.
The glowstone is awesome, but the other blocks should be changed in my opinion.

I will keep the others as alternates, so people can swap them out when they like. I see what your saying, but as the nether holds nothing interesting for me, this is where I shall be going with it.
I don't see any issues with the nether to be honest, and the pillars look good if you wanted a fallen pillar in some ruins along with standing up. :tongue.gif:

excellent explanation there sonlen haha. progress updates very soon, just getting screens.
I have been working today on tweaking certain textures as well as finishing a couple (new hell textures and wheat) also tilled dirt, a temporary lava. Let me know what you think of the changes if you can pick them.
new wooden doors and tweaked tall grass
new wheat
new furnace, new wooden door, tweaked birch and cobblestone.
better tiling dirt and better shading under grass. (thinking about doing a more cracked version of dirt)
A lovely shot of the scorpion fortress. New lightstone, tweaked sandstone.
Underneath the scorpion fortress. Tweaked sandstone and sand.
again guys, thoughts are welcomed, even if its that you don't like something.

WOW! I'm very impressed with the work you've presented here.
I like the tall grass and the new wooden doors. They both are unique and very much fit the pack beautifully. Very good work on those, I'm jealous.
New wheat is good. I like that you can easily tell when it's fully grown, apparently! I hate harvesting wheat that is maybe one stage off of fully grown, so this is excellent to see.
New furnace is okay, I like the fire but I think that a fire like that would light up the inside of the furnace a lot better... but the top design is nice, and the unlit version is good as well, so nice job once again! Just needs that little lighting tweak if possible/you agree with me. I didn't notice much of a change with the cobblestone or birch, but they look good so if they needed to be improved you definitely met your goal!
Good shading underneath the grass! It looks much better now. I do think that you should remove that weird lump in the dirt that Steelfeathers pointed out in his review, but it still looks very nice. Huge improvement there, I am pleased.
Last but not least, your sandstone. There's a little line that appears in the top of every circle-bit on the top, but that's the only issue I have with it. Other than that, the sandstone completely amazes me, and actually makes me feel so jealous that I'm going to have to redo my sandstone simply to compete with yours! (Not to take the idea or anything, just noticing the 'competition') I like how sandstone has pink hue in it, especially after my companion cube comment earlier. It made my day.
All in all, I'm looking forward to the 0.8 update. You've done a great job here, a ton of improvements have been made and this texture pack is starting to look like one of the best out there right now. Well done, good sir. Well done.

ahhh one reply before bed won't kill me.
Thanks giffca! Yeah I missed that in the sandstone, Will fix that up in the morning, will also work on a halfstone block for it too. Cobble I just smoothed slightly and took a bit of depth out so it wasn't so harsh to the eyes and the birch I just darkened and made more golden at steel feathers point.
Yeah the dirt is bugging me. I think I need to almost have a redo and rethink of it. I am sure I can do a better job now I have been texturing a bit.
Cheers for the feedback mate.

Retired StaffThe new glowstone looks great! I like how it resembles stained glass. Nice job.
Cheers, It is exactly what I was aiming for, and I got some great colours in the end.

Nice! It seems that this texture pack finally starting to get to shape, and i love it! :smile.gif:
thanks mate, glad you like it. should hopefully be some more progress tonight.
