I have trouble with my texture packs whenever i download one it (for some reason) doesnt take it in and show it in the game. I make sure i downloaded it right and made sure i activated it under my mods and texture pack option and still doesnt work, same for the skins, and i cant figure it out. Can anyone help me?

Try saving it to where you saved Minecraft. Then go to Mods and Texture Packs and open.
