Are the log and leaf textures final? They don't really look 128x.
I hadn't planned on working on them any more. I tried using actual leaves for the trees but I found they looked really out of place as they were looking too big. I also couldn't find a way to tile them nicely. If you have any reference from another pack that I could look at I could maybe look at improving them that way :smile.gif:
It's nice when texture pack makers try to be diverse, but always flounder when going from 128 to the 16. Instead of just scaling it down, you should adapt it to the 16 resolution. It'll look much better and have it's own "flavor" if you will. Otherwise the 64 and 32 resolutions look fantastic.
I had only planned for this to be a hires pack so the lower resolutions are just a bonus. Doing the 16x pixel art is a completely different ball game and would pretty much require starting from scratch. You lose so much detail that you have to be very specific about what colour pixels you're using.
This screenshot is the spawn city on Herocraft server. I've put a lot of things from different packs into the zip containing your terrain.

That looks impressive :smile.gif: Looking at the iron block texture now though I might tweak it to get rid of the highlight as it looks a bit distracting when they're repeated like that...
Thanks for the comments all. I'm glad you like it. I've added a short YouTube video to the first post.

Maybe it's all a matter of opinion.
These are the leaves from another pack that I've replaced yours with:
I don't know if these are something you would want in your pack personally, but I like them and it's a simple task to replace them. It's your call to change the leaves :smile.gif: I just thought the current leaves in your pack weren't fitting in with the hires textures.
Oh and I'm just referring to the regular/birch leaves. The pine texture has a nice needle look. :wink.gif:
I've had this happen (very rarely) before, so it's not necessarily limited to your pack, but I'm having this issue where blocks will look like another block (usually stone). If you place a torch on them, it updates the texture to the proper one. I made a video of it here:
The only other time I had it happen was with another 128x pack. I have quite a good computer and my Minecraft Java HeapSize is set to 2GB, so that can't be the problem. Any thoughts?
Update: While trying to add some textures for my personal use that your pack doesn't include yet, I noticed it was taking much longer to add things to the archive (about 10 seconds, when it's usually nearly instant). I had seen some Mac related files in the zip previously, but figured they could be ignored. I'm guessing there may be an issue here for Windows users.
Anyways, I repacked it with 7-Zip. I'll let you know if I encounter the problem again.
Are you talking about the ".DS Store" files and the "_MAC OS" folder? I'm sure I saw a utility a while ago that would zip without copying those over (they're invisible on the Mac). If I can't track it down I'll compress the next update in window just to be on the safe side :smile.gif:
Yeah, one of those in every subfolder. Also this _MACOSX folder with I'm guessing some metadata for everything in the folder (has all the file names like ._terrain.png, ._custom_lava_flowing.png, etc). I don't know if that was really the culprit but I'm not running any mods.
I went and mined about 800 blocks with the repacked folder, didn't encounter the texture bug. Then went up topside and your pack gave me some motivation to finish up the back of my house. Some new pics:

I thought the 1.8 ruins textures were a new block? The other picture (NPC village) shows the old/current cobblestone texture, so either the Mojang screenshots are using 2 different texture packs, or there is indeed a new block. In that case, your texture looks great for that block. I wouldn't use it as cobblestone though, since the two would be very similar. Unless you go in another direction with the new block.
Well, it's been a day and there's no signs of my fascination with this pack going away. I think I'm infected. :biggrin.gif:
I can only find two imperfections (of all the textures that are present).
One: The signs can be a bit hard to read, the lines in the planks kind of line up with the text. Would it be possible to cut it into 2 planks, scale it up a bit, so the line between planks is between the 2nd and 3rd text line?
Two: Warning: once you see this you can't unsee it! http://i.imgur.com/hOZG4.png
Switched at birth?
I knew the redstone shape was reminding me of something but couldn't think what... now I know lol
The sign was just the plank texture slapped on as a temporary fix. Pumpkin is in the same state but they're both in the queue :smile.gif:
been toying with a proper cobble cobblestone texture today. I'm thinking this may be the way to go if we're getting proper stone bricks in 1.8 :smile.gif:
ianska: I thought the cobblestone texture now looked good, but I think that may be an improvement! Very nice.
I've been messing around with GLSL shaders as the unofficial update for 1.7 was just released. I made a short vid to try to show them and your textures off here:
(Doesn't look great yet, not sure if youtube is still processing or if I need to find a new encoder.)
:unsure.gif: ummm...... i have a slight prob i downloaded it and went to use it then it crashed so i refreshed but it keeps CRASHING !
Make sure you're using the latest Minecraft and patcher (HERE) then un-patching & patching your minecraft client. The texture packs don't affect the code in any way so it's probably a problem with your patched client. I think sometimes you need to delete your bin folder too before you patch.

Hehe thanks. I'm pretty new to the forums so have mostly been lurking while I worked on the pack. Screen shots look great. Thanks for posting them.

Really loving this texture pack. I'll occasionally waver from Soartex for a day or two but always return. This one might just change that. ;p
The house is looking awesome :smile.gif:
I've been toying with the idea of updating the brick style textures to keep the scale more in line with the ones shown in the 1.8 update here.
I've just played with the basic cobblestone so far but I prefer the larger scale as it doesn't look so busy when it repeats. What do you think?
