I have been scouring the forums and the web for the answer with no results so I will ask here...
First off, I am creating a 64x texture pack after being inspired by many others. I am coming up to the part where I need to create custom water/lava animation files. My questions:
1. Where are the DEFAULT Minecraft texture pack lava/water animation files stored? I cannot find them. (I see the 5 tiles for each in terrain.png but they do not look like the animation I see in Minecraft.)
2. Using the MCPatcher HD Fix, what is the default size for an animation file for water/lava, considering that I am using a 64x size? (I have seen files that are 64 tiles in height with dimensions of 64 x 4096 pixels.) Is it necessary that that I stick to this 1:64 ratio, or can I cut it down for less animation frames? (i.e. 16/32 frames, or 1024/2048 pixels high)
Thanks for any help or tips you pros can give me! :smile.gif:
im not sure, dont hate on me i think the tile/skin file itself gets movment and it is just like a piece of paper and you moving it like waves, correct me if im wrong ;D
I know how it works. That is not what I am asking.
dont know about the original water animation files but to the 2nd.
yes you can cut it down. as i was making my TP (RIP). i was using 256x and it would be a stupid work to do it with a 1:256 ratio
you just have to stick to the 1:16 1:32 1:64 ... i made my 256x lava texture with 1:64 ( i think so) . bu it works you just need at least one full animation cycle.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate the help. Yeah, making an insane number of incremented tiles just for water animation seems crazy.
BTW, LOVE the Doctor Who avatar. Waiting for the rest of Series 6 myself! :biggrin.gif:
