I'm making 1.8 Readyiness right now, but I had an idea.
How do you feel about me using the grass texture as the snow instead of nothing? It would get rid of the X-Ray snow blocks which I think is cheap. It does look odd on top of trees and structures so what do you think?
So would you rather have no x-ray snow blocks or Alpha Grass 'blocks' instead of snow blocks?
You clearly have no idea what I referring to so please add the two together? I have two editions where there is no snow and I'm asking which textures to use in place of snow...
Can anybody else who knows what they're talking about express their preferred choice of a replacement texture for snow? Transparent or grass?
***NOTICE***
I've tried constantly and it appears you can't get the old background back, just the one image. However I've come to the closest thing - you now see a panorama of the old dirt background.
Also that I've kept vines and the 'stem' like grass within the Alpha Pack to test if they are really needed - so please note it.
Sadly, after repeated attempts I can NOT get the lighting as the normal - even when deleting the 'light_normal.png' the purple nights and brown caves lighting engine is hard coded and a texture pack cannot not get rid of it.
Swamps do make the nice green grass ugly, but I'm afraid there's no way around it since biome colouring is in the coding and cannot be altered through texture packs alone (so far as I've researched).
Hey Vitrolic_Edge, I was just wondering if you were going to change the lighting colors back to the original color in your pack.
I've tried editing the 'lightingcolor.png' file, but it doesn't work and no effect is taken place, I've even tried making the colours hot pink so it would be recognizable but no difference. However I did these test back in 1.8 Pre-Releases so I'll try again.
But if it doesn't work the lighting color must be done in the code and the png file that contains the lighting must have no effect by texture packs or does not get recognised.

Well if it doesn't work you could always promote this mod that I just found.
Well pretty much everything got darker, with the biome grass and smooth lighting, that's what he means.
Creative Commons License is up and thanks for the positive response.

It restores the classic 1.7 lighting. =)
Edit: Yea, I just tried editing the light_normal.png file and it seems it doesn't change a thing. =/
Thank you! Will put that in the OP, hey maybe we can do a dual promotion his mod with this texture pack and vice versa, thanks for the link!
You're welcome. =)
Edit: Now if only we could find a mod to change diamond, gold, and iron blocks back to the way they looked in Alpha.
