Yes, I've used the patcher. I normally run DokuCraft (see my sig), so I make sure to always use the patcher with each update.
Also, I was looking around in the files and i must say... the char.png and the pumpkinblur really impressed me!
open the DinoCraft file, highlght everything inside of it, open up my computer, open users, open your user, then click the the top and type / (or) \ (forget which one) AppData, then open up roaming, then .minecraft, then open up your jar, then right click minecraft click open with, then winrar archiver, then drag the highlighted things into the folder
install it, don't worry it's free, and everyone who uses hd tex packs uses it, it says it's not free and bothers you repeatedly after the 30 day trial, but you jusy pay, for it to stop bothering you about paying it, no paying needed

The character png was the zombie pigman from an abandoned texture pack called tooncraft I was helping my friend make.
Well, I like the slingshot idea, but I don't think it looks good in your hand. Maybe make throwing knives/harpoons! Both the bow and arrow icons can be the same thing, so it looks like you threw the knife in your hand.
Meh, it looks too cartoony. Maybe (or you could get someone else to do this as you're busy making the texture pack) you can make a pixel art/3D dinosaur in minecraft. Or you could just put pictures of your prehistoric mobs.
Ok, I accept that, but I don't think people will be especially interested in a texture pack with a cartoon dinosaur on the cover. Try a blockier cartoon dinosaur.

Oh, maybe the pumpkinblur (which is the image you see when you put a pumpkin on your head as a helmet) was there in the first place.
Maybe you could try dinosaur plates and bones.
