This is just off the top of my head, I'm surprised I remember it and I might be wrong because it's still been a while since I've played the classics, but I think there's a badnik in the Casino Night zone who has a silver and red lance. you could use that for the iron sword. I think I'll go off and play the classics now, I'll come back if I happen to find anything good in the meantime.
Ok, this time I actually read through the forums, how about making the cake the 1-UP TVs? And the chests those "?" TVs from Sonic 2's multiplayer? :biggrin.gif:
Chests = Done. Unless there is a miracle graphic someone can point me too. Most of these textures, in the end, will NOT be pure and unedited "Ripped" graphics straight from the Genesis. There will be MANY things that I will have to improvise for and edit myself.
Swords I'm not so sure about. I'm mostly thinking about the terrain as of now. And a few bugs in the recent update may be... [sorry for this]
-Black wool I think interferes with some other texture
and
-the levers being too tall and looking messed up
I think I am going to try to finish the terrain while also starting the Aether graphics. I love the mod!
Also, in the next update there will be
-blended grass
-more technologically impressive looking pistons/sticky pistons.
-log top/bottoms will blend a tad bit smoother
-Mecha sonic on alt wool blue wool [I'm trying here, please don't lose patience]
-better wooden planks
-few Aether graphics
It's actually a fanmade HD version of the manual elevators in Mushroom Hill zone. I re-sized and completely changed everything to create my own wooden planks.
That coincides with what I had stated above about making everything based on sonic textures to give you that legitimate Sonic 'feel' while also adding a sense of design. I'm not just ripping graphics and ripping graphics. I like to have some artistic touches added to them as well!
I have about [unsure about the ratio] approximately... 5 or 6% of the aether graphics completed. I'll update the download link soon.

I have no idea why [center] is appearing in the OP, but since it only appears at the beginning of spoiler tags, you could use the spoiler tags that don't have it as a reference to try and fix it. I'm going to update the in-game terrain now.

Yes, you do have to patch it with MCPatcher, otherwise a number of the textures will look bad.
And I honestly think that instead of an actual item, some form of scrap metal would be better for iron ore.

I'm currently working on the custom_lava/water/fire at the moment. And lava was, *er-hem*, as I would say, PURE HELL! I've been at the computer for about 4 hours now, and still I haven't found something with that 'perfect' feeling that leaving me leaving the keybored, fingers still smokin', with a mood of satisfactory.
Working on everything really. Also started the font.png but that is not so bad. I can easily find textures for that. It's just a matter of taking the time to cut, paste, refurbish, rerefurbish, etc...
PS- If anyone wants to suggest anything for the different ores in the Aether that would be fine too. I may or may not get around to it as it is just a side job but I could use all the help I can get.
EDIT: BECAUSE, I have already gotten Vattic's permission to use his texture pack as a place holder until each and every texture here is complete, I figured maybe with the next update I'll also add in HD Fonts. The current one doesn't read right and I would need to have each letter HD from start to finish. There's no just play 'expanding the canvas' on this one.
So it is settled, in the next update [hopefully 1.8 as I am getting tired of upping my 'v' [V7 would be just too sad...] every week]

-lava flowing/still
-water flowing/still
-possibly better fire [depending on feedback] animation
Also don't expect this for a while...

I don't know much about the Aether mod, or whether all it's textures are original or not, but quick, possible suggestion: Sky sanctuary zone? hmm? maybe? they both have old temples and bouncy clouds. I'll leave you to think about that.
EDIT: I suppose that would also mean reskinning something as an eggrobo, and perhaps you could change portal blocks into looking like the teleporter beams from the teleporting orb thingies? perhaps you could make some other mob into mecha sonic? I'm just throwing out whatever comes to mind here, I don't expect all of it to be useful.
Zombies might work well as Mecha Sonic. I'll just have him with that stray static/sparks as if Sonic JUST owned him and he has just enough power to get up and walk, but not enough to spin and jump and everything :smile.gif:
But mobs will be the hardest part of this pack imo. I'm saving them for last. I had some help from Kiajinn with the spiders so that wasn't so bad, but making the Ghast. Robotniks main machine will be difficult feat to overcome.
Might have to scratch the HD fonts. Unless everyone is magically ok will all caps font, or they can find me some working fonts from the Sonic Vintage series I haven't found.

not sure the oil ocean would go well with the rest of the landscape, it would probably work best to just keep that as water. unless you plan on one day dividing this up into multiple textures? for instance, you have one texture that makes the world look like the green hill zone, one that makes it look like the oil ocean zone, etc? just a long-term idea for you.
As for those Robotnik Ghasts, are you going to make it the normal Robotnik flying thingy, or are you going to specifically make it into the boss from the lava reef zone? The black one that shoots bombs? that you have to destroy by getting him to hit himself, much like the ghasts? that might even be easier to make, in terms of sticking a visible robotnik in there. or since there are multiple ones, would they be Eggrobos?
also, something I'm not sure many TP artists know, I'm pretty sure a good amount of the mobs have a "hat" layer on their skin, much like the player and the zombie pigmen. This includes ghasts, as far as I know. just thought you might like to know that.
We've had several ideas for zombies, but none of the decent. I'll mention Tails' Doll could be used, since it looks pretty lifeless, and according to memory, it had stitches, which could pass for scars, or something like that. (Zombies always looked more like Frankensteins to me) If you don't like anything you've been suggested for zombies, just leave it for last, we've got more important textures to worry about. (like the crafting table)
Oil Ocean idea is bad. Water is hard enough to see through under normal circumstances.
All caps is also a bad idea. It will make us grumble a lot, and just generally reduce our gameplay experience.
The ghasts model will be the image of Robotnik next to the To-Do list in the OP.
I thought it was a given that the Sky Sanctuary would be used for the Aether. Wonder what we'll use for Aerwhales?
I'd had it in my mind for quite some time that EggRobo would be good for Ghasts, but didn't want to put too much on Affinite's plate, seeing as how the current suggestion is going to be challenging as is.
After an eternity of FAIL, I finally managed to get my playstation emulator working, so my attention will be there for the next few days/weeks.
Still in my slump, but since you seem to be focusing on liquids, Ill give you a few pointers:
1. Make sure that visibility underwater is level towards the default pack's, in reference towards how far beneath the surface, at what time of day, and both mixed.
2. Make sure the water texture has saturation. What we've had so far, has had little to no saturation, and looks just plain horrible. Brightness is a good second if saturation doesn't turn out well.
3. Don't forget the sparks that fly out of lava every now and again. I recall some kind of flame jumping from lava, then coming back down from either Marble Zone (name?), or the Hill Top Zone.
4. The Marble Zone (name?) lava from before was really quite amazing, if you could base it around that, I'm sure everyone would love the result.

Awesome texture pack, bro. However, I'm gonna stay with the current version that I have of it since I love the blue glowstone texture (my house in SMP looks great.) Oh yeah, and I have Sonic 2 and Sonic Spinball for my phone, as well as Sonic 3 for Wii's Virtual Console if you want some help. (or suggestions rather.)
