I've always wanted to use a HD Texture pack with Minecraft, but, alas, my computer isn't strong enough to load up the graphics without a good amount of lag.
So, I decided I'd make my own HD pack, while using the standard 16x16 resolution, and JackPack was born (or rather, is continuing to be born, in a twisted and laborious way).
As of now, I've got the important blocks from the terrain file and a few items, and I'm working daily.
Have some eye-candy!!!
The swords were inspired by yaoman17's sprites for an unfortunately dropped texture pack that you can find here.
The rest is all me. Swear.
added July 1st, 2011: wooden and iron doors, logs, and glass have been added.
And here it is, the big family portrait! I threw in almost every block from the terrain file, even the shrubbery!
Now, onto business.
Diamonds. They're green. Well, in this pack anyways. Originally, I only wanted to change one block: the glowstone. I like using glowstone in buildings, and the yellow/gold macaroni look was both ugly and made me hungry, so I made it blue, and both natural looking and eye-catching. One problem with this was that I started to mix up diamond with the glowstone, so I took inspiration from The Legend of Zelda, and made diamonds greens, and resembling rupees (well, almost).
Also, if you notice, the diamond, iron, and gold blocks are all Zelda-esque. (that was FUN)(no it wasn't) :|
Here are a couple of close-ups with some of the blocks.
The ores in all their glory.
Cacti and the desert shrub.
You can download the most recent JackPack from the link below. And no, it's not an adf.ly link.
Download Here!!!
Try it out, tell me what you like, what I should change, I'd love feedback.
