I don't know about anyone else here, but I actually like the default look on Minecraft...except for a few small things. So, I took it upon myself to redesign a few small aspects of the default textures.
Change List:
-Wooden planks and objects are slightly darker, and "richer" This includes pistons, doors, boats, anything made of wood really, even torches!
-Glass is easier to see through
-Creepers are now slightly darker, harder to see (hehe) -Cobblestone has been tweaked, I lowered the contrast on the texture slightly(the new cobble texture does this for me now)
-Mossy cobble has also been changed to a lesser contrast.
-Gravel is now blue tinted to try and make it less ugly (it isn't)
-Fully grown wheat is now much browner, to distinguish it better
-The moon has a reddish tinge (I just liked it)
-Powered creepers now glow yellow/orange instead of blue (again, I just liked it)
-Shovels have been rotated (Now you actually dig, not slap the dirt)
-Bricks have been darkened slightly
-Smoothstone and ore blocks have been lightened a VERY small amount (Smooth lighting is too dark, this helps)
Oh, and the left side of the Sticky Piston plunger has a purple line going down it. I copied the normal piston's edge there, but thought you'd like to know anyway.
Well thanks! Though I havent done much with this pack at all really, just messed around with noise, brightness, saturation, etc. There hasnt been much actual drawing at all.

Yeah, its a bit to orange-y for my likes. Signs are even worse.
I may go back to the original wood image and start over with the recolouring...
Or I may recolour it by hand as opposed to tinkering with brightness and saturation sliders. Hmm...
