Due to recent decisions by the forum admins and my overall weariness of the continual battles between the community and those that run it, I am discontinuing all the threads on this forum. You can still find my packs on Planetminecraft and I will continue to update them there. However, with the exception of my administrative duties to the Texture Artists Union I will no longer be using this forum
Don't leave. I know not the most convincing argument, and it probably won't change your mind, but it has to be said. Although, I guess I'm being a bit selfish here, as I just have to get off my lazy ass and put a minuscule amount of effort into following you there, but still, it's a shame to these forums drive away a fantastic artist. Oh well, good luck in all that you do in the future.

Technically, I am still lurking. Also, the Texture Artists Union is attempting to set up a forum of their own. When that happens I will be spending most of my time on that site.

I want to get some feedback from you guys about something.
Part of the reason why I took an...impromptu haitus is because I am beginning to become frustrated with this pack and with twisted minds. I feel...restricted. There have been a few comments about the textures in this pack being too realistic and while I agree that they do not fit the theme. It aggravates me anyway. I have been considering discontinuing my current work and starting over, but after talking with some people and realizing that I would be borrowing a lot of textures from this pack I think that maybe it would be better to change the theme of Impressions.
Or to put it a better way, to remove the theme from Impressions. This would also entail a name change most likely. I chose Impressions for a name as sort of a play on words, as most of you probably figured out. It wouldn't fit the pack as much if I removed the impressionist theme.
What do you all think? Should I remove the theme? Should I keep the pack the way it is and start a new one? Should I discontinue this pack and start a new one?

It is my first and it is the one that I have spent the most time on. It feels wrong to just toss it aside. At the same time I feel like I have grown enough as an artist that this pack has become...restrictive somehow.

Thanks, I didn't not intentionally start out that way. But I have noticed that a lot of high res packs tend to be...noisy. Which tends to look ugly at a distance. This is something that I try to avoid.

Well if you are feeling restricted by the pack, I think a reasonable solution would be to start fresh; a clean slate. I don't want to see this pack discontinued, it's great, but if there isn't much more motivation for you to do it, then I think it would be best if you move on.
Appleslinky said it best: if you're not feeling it, don't force yourself. You should enjoy your work. Branch out, and if it'll make the transition easier, hold on to this one for any possible future inclinations.

Question. If you removed Impressions, what would the theme be? I really like the look of this pack, and I am fine with you changing it however you want, so long as you don't abandon it, but if you really just can't work with this, fine, leave it, and I'll follow you to your next one. So ya.

If I removed the impressionist theme then there wouldn't really be one. However, the style that I tend to gravitate towards it what you see in the stone brick and torches. So basically what I would end up doing is overhauling the textures to match those more.

Actually I just started a season night shift position at Toys'R'Us. That's what I was doing last night :smile.gif:
As for the font. Well... I used Nuin's spreadsheet fix which is linked in the MCpatcher's main post. Worked wonders. :smile.gif:
