Just out of curisity what is the system specs of people who run 512x?
I've used them out of curiosity. My system:
i5-2500K @ 3.3GHz
8GB RAM
Radeon 6850
It's playable, but not enjoyable. I don't recall the exact framerates I was getting but you definitely noticed the slow-down. Try adding GLSL shaders or the reflective Water Shader mod and it's not really usable anymore.
I really do not recommend it for anyone. Anything over 256 is really diminishing returns, and honestly this pack looks 99% as good at 128.

Yeah even with a powerful rig, the 512x starts to really bog comps down. 128x is nice, but I prefer 256x. 256x I have no problems whatsoever. I still hang around 120-140 frames. 512x I drop drastically to around 20 frames...:sad.gif:
Lol if I dedicate 2GB of ram directly to mc then I can start the game with the 512x....as for logging in....0 fps lol.
But like Spruu said, the 128x looks just as good, although if I had fps like you guys Id use the 256x just for the hell of it. For now though the 64x or 128x works good depending on how bad the current mc version screws over fps. Thanks to 1.8 and 1.9 I will be using the 64x for a while it looks like.

I think you must allocate 4GB of RAM to Java for 512x version.
Step 1: Make sure you have the latest version of MCPatcher.
Step 2: Use it.
I did say I installed it properly. Considering I downloaded mcpatcher just five minutes ago specifically for this texture pack, I'd think it's highly unlikely I don't have the latest version.
(however it started working properly after kicking files to get Clay Soldiers working again...)
EDIT: although the tool icons for the soldiers themselves aren't working (showing up as the default ones) for some reason...

Well, lots of people seem to think proper installation just means dropping it into the right folder.
I'm guessing your problem is related to a bug where MCPatcher will revert to a previous backup it made. Running MCPatcher on a .jar that has already been modded is often asking for trouble. It's best to delete minecraft.jar and the backups, then force an update through the launcher. Then run MCPatcher and install mods after that.

yes that is recommended. i have core i7 920 , 6gb of corsair dominator ddr3, radeon 6970 and i can run 512x (with 4gb dedicated to java) without mods at 100fps no probs
You don't use the last version of MC or you don't use the last version of the TP and/or the version of MCPatcher is probably not adapted to your version of MC...
Re-read installation instructions in the main thread and apply them, if you follow them correctly, you should not have glitches like you showed...
On October 12th 2011, Notch stated that "After release, I will totally work on slightly less dangerous dragons that don't destroy terrain and can land and whatnot. They will be red."
wow the new dragon is looking amazing (vid on home page)
and now we find out that more will be added... yay i hope they can be ridden

Yes, it's incredible but I think it's too desctructive... I will really enjoy retexturing it to something else (I'll probably doing 2 versions, one nice and one strange like Endermen). :biggrin.gif:

No worries they wont be in the regular world. He was showing that as an example of why they won't be in the regular world and only in the Ender.

In other words, always start with a fresh .jar.

That was something else I made sure I did. Not sure what I did that fixed the bug, though...

Why aren't you using his water, lave, and fire? I love his versions!
