The new font is quite different to the old, but it really is quite a stretch to compare it to Comic Sans. To make that comparion seems like a rather insulting over-reaction!
It is hideous and even WORSE than Comic Sans. The freakin' letters don't even line up properly. YIKES
Thank goodness the texture pack maker made it so easy to restore the previous font with a tad of ZIP archive editing.
anyone care teach me how to change the font in sphax? the new font makes it harder for me to read. i am unable to rename "ascii_alt1.png" to "ascii.png" in "font" folder to use previous font because there is a file name ascii.png in it already. What do i need to do?

I just tested what would happen if I could not rename the file directly in the ZIP, and what I did was copy the "ascii_alt1.png" file out of the ZIP archive and placed that copy in the root folder on my C: drive. I then selected that root folder file and did a COPY and then a PASTE, and I got the "ascii_alt1 - Copy.png" file resulting. I then renamed that pasted file to "ascii.png" so that I have both files having the exact same content - the old font.
Then I opened the ZIP file and dragged those two files "ascii.png" and "ascii_alt1.png" into the "\assets\minecraft\textures\font" folder inside of that ZIP file and saved the archive, confirming that I want to OVERWRITE whatever files are there currently.
I did that for both the 128x version and the 256x version, since I will toggle between them when I'm testing different Optifine settings on different computers.
I have the original archives tucked away in one folder, and the modified archives in another folder (called OLD-FONT) and I copy those modified archives into the "resourcepacks" folder under the ".minecraft" folder.
Long winded, but I did want to be clear so it was understandable.
This is the most realistic texture pack I have ever seen, and I have only used up to the 32x resolution o_O, I plan on using the 126x resolution tomorrow.
I give you...9001 enchanted budder apples!
I've been trying my best to try to play with the sphax pack ive tried to place the zip in the resourcepacks folder, ive put and extraced version of the folder, not using optifine, please if anyone knows the solution to this please tell me. i have optifine installed and for some reason it refuses to select sphax pack!! i love this pack so HELP!!

Good luck!

You tried assigning Minecraft 8gb of RAM to do that? I think that is what the creator said is needed.
I can only seem to get 256x working, myself.
I'm letting it have 10, and other 512x packs work, but BDCraft 512x will not work, and always ends up setting the default pack after trying to load.
Exactly what happens to me as well. But thankfully, 256x looks pretty swanky.
Meh, I wouldn't mind 256x, but the edges of the tools not being smooth kinda bothers me.
Thanks
