It says that mobs come with variants, but how do I use those? For instance, if I wanted the red-eyed ghast instead of the yellow-eyed one, how would I change that?
either use randomobs to have both... or rename the red-eyed one to replace the other. mobs with numbers at end only work with randomobs. hope that helps?
I've had a problem installing a mod patch to this texture pack, and I've tried everything detailed in the instructions multiple time. The mod I installed was the Aether mod. Here is the issue:
Let me say that before I installed the Aether mod, everything was working fine. I'm running Minecraft 1.0, and I first used MCPatcher. I then started with ModLoader, then every other mod that the Aether requires. I checked the game and everything was fine. Finally, I installed the Aether mod and the textures turned into what you see in the screenshot. For the record, the Aether textures seem to be fine, but the stone and the fire texture is really screwed up. If someone could help out, it would be appreciated.
I don't like to repeat myself, but here is what I said in my previous post.

I'm not stupid, I've used texture packs before. I've never actually "changed" a pack before. There was something that happened between adding the Aether mod that messed it up. If I DON'T install the Aether mod, every single texture is fine. This is AFTER I already added the mod. I patched the .jar with MCpatcher already. I followed the directions to a tee, (or so I think), but this oddity is still confusing.

OK... I didn't want to offense you. :wink.gif:
Have you ever tried to repatch with MCPatcher after the Aether install?
Wait, so where do I rename the red-eyed one to replace the other... the zip file, an unzipped file or what? Thanks for your help so far, though!
in the tp zip file. dont unzipp.(in mob folder)(remove original) just rename 'ghast2.png' to 'ghast.png' same goes for the 'ghast_fire2.png' rename to 'ghast_fire.png ....make a backup first so you dont lose it.
Mightypork's powercraft has a patch for that mod and its not on the mod patches section (and its not updated). Could i ask you to put it on the page (and maybe update it). The link to the patch is on the powercraft thread.
Bump. Everyone has answered to my snapshot comment :tongue.gif:
I just realized that the patch was made by someone else! It could be good if YOU could update it (Sphax)

You're fine, I'm sorry if I came off as harsh. I just wanted to make sure that whoever replied understood the situation. I have tried repatching after I installed the mod, but like someone above me said, it deletes all the files in the mod folder. It's a really irritating problem...I've tried a few different things but haven't found any indication on the cause of the problem.
- open C:Users/.../AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/bin directory
- delete "minecraft.jar" and rename "minecraft-1.0.jar" (created by the MCpatcher) to "minecraft.jar" (or download a fresh copy of version 1.0) DON'T launch MCpatcher now !!
- Install the mods you want in the new "minecraft.jar" without launching MCpatcher !!
- After that all the other things has done, Launch MCpatcher and patch.
The program creates a copy of the actual minecraft.jar when launching, his name is minecraft-1.0.jar (for version 1.0) and he uses it for patching as long as this copy exist that's why if you install mods after launching it (no need to patch, just lanching and he create the file) and if you patch after installing mods the result will be "fresh copy + hd patch"
I hope this will help you
I tried what you explained, and when I go to Mcpatcher after installing everything else, the Texture option is not available.
EDIT: Alright, I managed to fix it. For people who end up having trouble with a similar situation, I added the mods into Mcpatcher instead of putting the mod files into the .jar myself. After loading all the mods into the list and then patching, everything seems to be working. Thanks for the help Sphax and Surf_acing!
I get a fresh minecraft and I use MCpatcher, Without the "Better Grass" Ticked. After I patched it, I zipped the folder and put both the zip and folder in the texture pack folder ( I'm using a Mac ), it doesn't work. It appears in the Mods and Texture Pack screen but the picture of it is a gray version of the default one.

Fire Charge shows up as "Fireball" w/ Sphax's Ghast fireball graphic, so check that one off already. :happy.gif:
List tags are malformed.

I'm curious what is the color mod?
