How much RAM do you have? Do you have a x64 system?
The problem is that Minecraft is not optimized at all for HD textures because it uses spritesheets which need to be totally put in RAM... In 512x, this spritesheet is HUGE, so it needs lot of RAM.
So 8 gigs of ram would not be enough? Because i have the same problem he has, where i have quite a good computer with 8 gigs of ram, and I allocated allot of ram to java as well.

I wouldn't mind the alternate textures being provided in a separate file, as I have no problems using Photoshop at all. (To be honest, I was 1/3 way through making a 64x texture pack when I found PureBDCraft. I have since given up! I like it too much!)
However, I wouldn't mind seeing a customizer either. Perhaps something similar to the one that Rhodox uses on Painterly would be nice. (Before I went high-resolution, I was using Painterly.)
Your main priority should be finishing off alternative textures and mods you want to
support before any further adventures. I personally think MinecraftCustomizer is the best
resource you have at your disposal.
I honestly don't see the sense in creating your own website. While I don't doubt the
design will be awesome and it could probably suit the users' needs, it's not realistic
when considering the amount of time the creation of the site would take up.
Personally, I'd go:
1. Upload alternatives to MinecraftCustomizer.net (Not *such* a time consumer...)
2. Add additional Mod Support
3. Begin venturing for a new texture pack, Medieval pack seems more intriguing then
a possible future variant, but it's up to you.
My computer is a beast, 4.0 GHz Quad Core, 16 GB of RAM, and an overclocked to hell and back GTX 460. I can't even load the 512x when dedicating 8GB's of RAM to MC, I just get MC has run out of memory. Not practical IMO.
I'm of the opinion that if you really want to do a customizer, just use MinecraftCustomizer to save yourself some time. Unless, however, you really want to make a website.
Personally, I think you're fine just doing alternate png's for people to swap in themselves, but I realize customizers are growing increasingly popular and not everyone understands how to edit a terrain.png.
Wow, wish I found this texture pack sooner. It's great!
I have a question as far as GLSL support, I doubt it's been updated to 1.8, but when it does get updated are there recommended shaders to go along with it? I didn't see any referenced in the OP.

did you make the .bat file and then launched with that??
edit: anyone trying to get the 512x to work just needs to read faq first. i run it at 100fps and i have 6gb af ram

I did make the .bat file and launch with that. I've been doing that for months, yet even with 8GB RAM and 100% allocated memory it can't run the 512x version.
EDIT: Turns out the .bat I made ages ago was only allocating like 1gb RAM whereas the FAQ says around 4gb. Thanks for mention the FAQ.
Hello there..
I am MrScarecrow and I shall be making a video on how to install this texture pack (and others). I will also be showcasing this texture pack on how cool it is!
Another comment will be made as to the link in the near future.
I ask the stupid questions so you don't have to.
Jsut went and dug through it again. It looks like it has everything, but the Enderman and the new particles.

Heed the advice!
