Please post in this thread letting me know what you think!
For a list of changes to the pack when it's updated, read the update log!
Hello! If you're reading this, I hope you're interested in downloading and using a texture pack that aims to make your Minecraft experience a more enjoyable one, since that's what it was made for! This pack was made specifically to enhance the default texture pack not in ways that look pretty, but in ways that actually benefit the player using it!
Benefits!
* Being able to see more clearly underwater than before
* Lighting up the night with night vision pumpkin helmets
* Knowing when your crops are fully grown thanks to a countdown timer
* Knowing which block you're hitting since blocks light up when being struck
* Knowing which way is north/south/east/west with the sun/moon compasses
* Knowing exactly how much time is left until a block is destroyed with the percentage counter
* Being able to see through glass without all those pesky pixels in the middle cluttering up the texture
If there's something you'd like to see added to- or removed from- the pack, just let me know, and I'll see what I can do! Whether it's modifying the block destruction counter, tweaking night vision, changing the wheat growing animation or something else entirely, I plan on doing what I can to make this texture pack even better than it already is!

Before!
After! (I know what you're thinking: "Wait, aren't East and West on the wrong sides?" Nope! Look in the direction closest to the symbol- N for North, S for South, E for East, W for West- and that will be the correct direction! It's sort of like how directions are reversed when looking in a mirror!) (The bottom of the screen [behind the player] is north, the top of the screen [in front of the player] is south, east is to the right and west is to the left!)
If you have any pictures of your own that you've taken while using Strongestcraft and would like for them to be featured here in this first post, I encourage you to submit them!

Update Log
Planned updates:
None.
Planned possible updates:
None.
Planned updates will almost certainly be carried out at some point. Planned possible ones require input from people using Assistcraft so I know whether or not you guys think it'll be a good idea or a bad one. If too many people think an idea'll be a bad one and there's solid reasoning behind why they feel that way, chances are, I won't implement such an idea.
9/14/11, 12:45 A.M: Updated the texture pack for 1.8.
9/10/11, 2:00 P.M: Added a custom texture for mossy cobblestone so dungeons don't look too strange and updated the appearance of obsidian.
7/31, 11:30 A.M: Changed the texture of cobblestone and obsidian for the second time, split the pack into one that lets people keep rain/snow/clouds and one that removes them for people who want them removed.
7/25, 4:15 P.M: Changed the texture of cobblestone to make it less of an eyesore.
7/4, 12:00 A.M: Added a short list of items and how many smelts you'll get out of them in the furnace interface. (Credit goes to Joshatdot for coming up with the idea and implementing it in a texture pack of his own!)
7/1, 5:45 P.M: Updated cakes, beds and pistons for 1.7.
6/26, 3:45 P.M: Updated the hell out of night vision pumpkin helmets, made all helmets- except night vision pumpkin helmets- invisible and made it much easier to see through the windows in the top of wooden and iron doors + trapdoors.
9:15 P.M: Oh god, why must "MAKE IT MORE TRANSPARENT" be the first possible solution that pops into my head whenever I have a problem with something. Anyway, instead of making obsidian transparent, I just changed the texture to that of a lighter one.
6/11, 8:30 P.M: Made obsidian somewhat transparent, NOT to aid the player in being able to see through solid objects, but to view the countdown timer. As such, I've only made the transparent area large enough to fit each number inside of it so that the countdown can be viewed properly since obsidian is just about the only block that you need the countdown for anyway.
6/10, 3:45 P.M: Made glass much easier to see through than before, added the crop counter to let you know how far along your crops are to being fully grown, reversed the crop counter to count down from 7 instead of up to it, almost completely remade the block destruction meter to be more user-friendly, accidentally made blocks glow a little when being hit, added sun/moon compasses, rounded out the sun/moon compasses, added night vision pumpkin helmets and made it easier to see underwater without your camera looking like it's fogged up.
--------------------------------
To everyone who gives this pack a try, I hope you have more fun using it than I had making it! Enjoy!

F.A.Q./Concerns
"I'm not sure how to install the texture pack!"
Don't worry, it's easy; instructions can be found in the readme.txt provided. But if you're here and reading this anyway:
1: Go to C:\document and settings\[Your Name]\Application Data\.minecraft\texturepacks in Windows XP or C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\texturepacks in Windows 7/Vista.
2: Cut this entire .zip folder to the texturepacks folder under .minecraft. Make sure that you DON'T extract the files! Again, you're NOT supposed to remove the files from this .zip folder! Cut the ENTIRE FOLDER and paste it into the above location.
3: Close the folder, start up the game, log in.
4: Under "Mods & Texture Packs," select this texture pack, then click "Done."
5: Enjoy!
"I own a Mac! What do I do?"
Follow the steps listed here after downloading the texture pack you want. Alternatively, here are different instructions from another mac owner!

What you have to do is compress all the items inside the folder, not the folder itself, so navigate to the Assistcraft folder but DON'T zip it, go into it and zip all of the items inside it. To do this, just highlight all the files and folders inside it, right click any of them and click "Compress 15 items" (I think that's how many, but if not it's close.) Finally, just put that zipped folder into the "texturepacks" folder in your minecraft folder, hope I could help.
"I cut and pasted the contents of the folder to the "texturepacks" folder. Why isn't it showing up under Mods & Texture Packs after I start the game?"
You're not supposed to do that- you need to cut and paste the entire .zip folder, WITHOUT extracting its contents, to the texturepack folder.

Please note, all times listed- 4:30 A.M, 1:30 P.M, etc- are central time. If you need help with anything else, don't hesitate to ask!
Uhm.. All I notice that has actually changed (Before and After) is the wheat your growing? It's just turned into a black stringy sort of thing?
I assure you, you'll be able to see the changes to glass and wheat much more clearly once in-game! Those stringy things are actually the numbers "5" and "6" I believe, though it may be a bit tricky to tell from the angle seen in the pictures! I'll retake them!
In what ways does this even make things a little more complicated, let alone much more?
Before you read any of this post, bear in mind: this is just MY opinion.
The wheat's height should be a clear indicator of when it is finished, no? I haven't used this in-game, so I don't know if the sun is actually accurate or not (i'll just assume it is) And the breaking animation should kind of be obvious. More lines = more destruction. I really like the glass, though. :tongue.gif:

The wheat's height should be a clear indicator of when it is finished, no?
Yep, but most new players can't differentiate between that 1-3 pixel difference between when wheat is fully grown and when it still has a bit of time left, so to help with that, I turned into a much easier system for players to use- counting down with numbers they already know instead of memorizing the colors and lengths of the wheat in-game! To continue assisting them when they switch texture packs where the default wheat textures are being used, hopefully they'll be able to recall the one and only wheat texture they saw in this texture pack time after time, which should help subconsciously reinforce, "These few bits of wheat over here are done growing, but those over there aren't; I know that because I recognize this one, but I don't quite recognize the others."
And the breaking animation should kind of be obvious. More lines = more destruction.
Ahh, I probably should have clarified this a bit further. I didn't add more squiggly lines to make it seem more destructive, I added a line going around the edge of the block clockwise, which changes colors as it goes along the edge. Also, in the center, numbers from 0-9 let you know how much percent of the way you've made it to destroying the block, (Starts at 0, between 0-10%; ends at 9, 90%+.)
@Eraiya
I think the cloud textures should be kept, the rain should be maybe a bit smaller particles? I dunno. The snow should be kind of like the snow from doku's RPG pack. (the original snow from his pack, if you remember that.)
Ahh, sorry, I gotta be honest with ya, I don't think I'll end up going with that. I'll most likely go with a more general thing like entirely removing rain/snow/clouds, rain and snow, or clouds, depending on how the majority votes in on the poll. Still, if the majority votes in on "Other" and all agree with you by the time 10 votes total are reached on that option, but none of the others, that's what I'll end up going with!
Assistcraft's been updated! I've made obsidian somewhat transparent, NOT to aid the player in being able to see through solid objects, but to view the countdown timer. It is- I've been using it in conjunction with another self-made texture pack for months now. :3
