i love the robot poster. the vault door I'll have 2 version done in a second. i think it would help a lot for RP. the one 4x4 with the nuclear blast doesn't make sense tho, who makes a poster about them blowing it up before, unless it was a movie poster i guess. but even still, it's not along any storyline theme.
the 1x2 look great, i'm surprised you got it to look just like my cow skin, that's fantastic, the tattered edges look great.
as for dog, I'll make him bark normal, but overdub with let's say a collar radio voice, so it'll be like 'Up' mixed with 'boy and his dog' maybe a speaker backpack or something....

Is anyone going to do something to replace the tall 2x1 painting on the right with the little 8-bit red dude? I've never liked that painting, and there's really no reason to leave it in.
Also, I'm not sure the vault door with no background would work for a secret door, because you can see the edges of everything behind it, so you'd be able to tell that there's blocks missing.

yeah, but the leaves use to drop leaves, as in blocks of leaves. so you could use them to place that weird texture, so now that the leave blocks disappear, having them textured as anything but leaves is odd looking. of all the texture quirks that one is just hard to understand. I don't mind the smooth stone as metal, or the lava as green or any other thing, but the leaves as wood planks looks lazy, impractical and confusing.
Tree farming is hard to tell the difference from trunk and leaf too. I know it's going to be fixed, I just want to draw some attention to it.

Oooh, i had another idea. What if the discs were like audio recorders, and when you played them they were audio logs by people who were trying to live through the apocalypse? That would be pretty interesting, especially because the moss stone looks like floor tile, so you could imagine Dungeons as like underground houses.

The tree trunk as planks I can live with it makes them seem like artificial trees, but the tree texture is the plank texture. if we could get a new textures just for leaves that made them seem like lego trees, i think we could be ok.

THANK YOU A BUNCH, It's good to feel appreciated. The spider I'll make sound a bit more psychotic and glitched out. it was suppose to be like a malfunctioned war machine that can't identify friend from foe sort of thing. i have some ideas on how to improve it. I'll improve upon it.
as for the discs, that sounds like a great idea. I'm all for it. I wanted to make the discs laser disc looking, and having them as a log would take some time but it's possible. if anyone has a good script, send me an e-mail. I'd love to do it, just as the bombs went off, and they're safe underground somewhere with limited supplies. finding oddities that don't have to relate to current time minecraft, because it's still per-post-apocalyptic.
I have given a full cloud coverage, i found it a bi too much, and added in just the slightest amount of holes to peek through. It was the first thing I changed in the mod. the open sky was so detracting, it then makes more sense for the artificial trees needed, and the green water. Just put this into the environment folder. Also there's a slight glitch in it i like, that the clouds above spawn make a slight line towards it. it's helpful.
Messed around a bit with another alt mix for ya. I have a bunch of fallout stuff, but wasn't sure how "Fallout" you guys wanted to go. Some of these I made for the Mythos pack, but feel free to hack at any of it how you want. The blank spots I haven't found anything for...like I said, alt cut/paste file really.

this is what i'm going to be using now, the pipes and the orbital head are gone, there's enough orbital pictures to go around. we need a pinup girl to make this feel right. The arrows are great, but they're the same picture that is turned 3 more times, and the paint is even going up the wall on one, so noticing the paint, i decided to just do a color coding and painted arrows.
the have you seen this herobrine poster cool concept wasn't really relating. the robot one isn't much better but it's better. the secure your position before he does, doesn't make sense, one is before the war and the raider is after the war so it's a paradox. i assume. and the hive door, which i didn't want to get gory and have blood on it, but i wanted there to be something on it, so the anarchy symbol. i use it because it's simple and turns out great in low res, i'd do a face but that's even more ridiculous.
i love the cake is a pie. and the 2x1 flags so much. and what you did to fix up the other signs.
the fan can be replaced tho, it's not needed, but something like it as a mechanical doodad is a good idea.
the only other thing i got to say is that the canteen for the bread should replace the ears, and the bread could be stimpack like syringe. from the chemical from the plants. :biggrin.gif: that same chemical used with the egg motor thing and cows milk makes a cake still works fine. i love the black forest cake.
the ears are cool, but the ears making plants, and dye is odd. the raiders always reminded me of the desert people in dune, so that might be another reason...
also changed the particles from the green bubbles, it bugged me always to have those, it needed to be something just very very minimal.
i dunno how to do particles but i think smoke is suppose to fade in an out, which i didn't do. still better then not.
also made the fish hook look like meat/wood on a barb.
i don't like the purple nuclear waste, it looks bad in nether, against the red. maybe a lime green almost yellow would be better...
I know it seems like I'm aspergers about this game, but in all reality minecraft is the best game i can play. sc2 also, but kinda bored with that. i also have finished doing a lot of music recently and just love doing this pixel art stuff. paint.net is awesome.
The lime green was cool for the lava, but it was too bright for the last days pack, to cartoonish. i tried toning it down to this duller green with a bit more yellow, and it works really nice, in nether and normal. and the particle for the bubble changed too.
so i tweaked the netherack to be a bit higher contrast so it fits into the overall pack and added a light shading of red to it, just slightly. Tried my hand at making soul sand that looks like a shale. it's something, i can't really do textures well, but i hope croco could improve it.
also, in this terrain I made the light bulb shorter, with a thinner handle which make sit perfectly square now with just the base having overlap. it has the garbage gravel, and made the sandstone look a bit darker more defined with changing the contrast, and changed the side to be like the bottom. the broken wall was too busted up looking, it's not a difficult material to make and in a row it looks odd. it'll make cool item to make streets with though.
the funny part is the same texture is inside the terrain.png but even MORE busted up.
and of course my custom digging animation.
now i'm just going to ask croco to get rid of tree bark entirely, for the spruce. make it those cool looking wood textures, like spruce trees could look like thick pieces of wood placed horizontally.
the regular tree looks like wood over dirt which is ok, but the inside of the log looks like that and it doesn't match spruce or birch. you could use those 2 textures for the regular tree for the leaves instead! then make some new texture that would make the trees look totally artificial. they grow from canisters.
the story could be the cloud coverage is so thick now that noting can grow properly so even the trees are self replicating machines from the past.
alright, well here's my version of the self-replicating tree machines that use the soil to grow and minimal light :wink.gif: pretty much what trees are in minecraft...
i used the cool bark for birch as placeholders for the bark, and the normal trees bark and center for the leaves. the spruce has only horizontal since it grows in layers, and birch/normal trees the hatched wood. then made the inside transparent, and they'll look like a futuristic dystopian reminder of what a tree was. 8 generations old. from the survivors of the shelters, they replanted these trees to help them construct the new future.
so just need some cool new bark is all. or and i found the inside of the log from another part of the terrain pack. i think it's a neat idea that inside the fake trees is lights and machine. i dunno, but this is better then what's up there now.
storyline wise it works too, still gives a reason for limited trees, because they're manufactured from small solar powered generators, not saplings. they're a re-birth technology for regrowing civilization (LIKE THE GECK).
I wish i used the more up to date terrain but oh well.
so, that should leave croco with doing icons like the flamethrower and buckets, making a few bark textures, make the shale like soul sand look good, or coming up with a better texture for it. considering changing the ears to water canteens and bread to syringe like stimpacks(need to distill 3 canisters of whatever it is the plants grow to make one stimpack). and making something weird coming out of the garbage. maybe make the tracks look more jerry-rigged, or more aged looking, just slightly, still got to look usable. and i guess the plants. which i drew just 3 little sticks int he ground, that works pretty decent, sparse plant life...

[edit: the funnier part of using the old bark as the leaves for the tree, is that it looks like dirt inside and trees make the same sound as destroying grass. it works nicely.]

The hive door looks really awesome. I just tweaked it a tiny bit and added it.
I'll probably change the green bubbles later on, at the moment I would like to focus on finishing the items.

Well, its not really graffiti its a small sign with dollars on it to indicate a store/merchant.
love the new art thingies and all but i can't help but feel that the apocalypse just isn't right without gangs. why not add faction banners?
I've divided my city in to different areas all marked with banners and posters from my personal "kz" pic but they all look kinda rubbish as i'm not the most skilled pixel artist in the world.
this is my "kz" file so far:
(the different group flags are the communists, government/large corporation (orbital), and the others with their flag with a white "X"(i have not thought of a name yet)
as you can see, the pictures lack the love that only a true pixel artist can provide. so i beg you croco/halphprice (or whoever is in charge of this kinda stuff) please make some kind of flags at least for an alt art file so that my world doesn't look too stupid.
Well, actually all of the 2x1's are faction symbols (surviving military, anarchy, and tribal). But I can work on a few alts for you, I just need to finish up some stuff first.

[edit: the funnier part of using the old bark as the leaves for the tree, is that it looks like dirt inside and trees make the same sound as destroying grass. it works nicely.]

Well here's what I've compiled out of everything so far.
I have not changed the colors of anything yet because I need to test them first to see how it looks. :wink.gif:

I'll probably use your pack symbol, but after a few small revisions of course. Good job on that!
The hive door looks really awesome. I just tweaked it a tiny bit and added it.
I'll probably change the green bubbles later on, at the moment I would like to focus on finishing the items.
The fishook looks really cool! I liked it a lot.
Like I said before, the new lava looks cool, but I won't try to mess with it before I test it.
Also, you can take a crack at the soulsand if you want and then I can flesh it out a little. Or I can just do it, whatever you want to do! Great job on everything so far HalphPrice, you are being extremely helpful! :biggrin.gif:

I dunno, I still don't like the dollar sign graffito. It doesn't make sense to me. Why would people in a post apocalyptic wasteland graffiti dollar signs? Do they even use dollars anymore?

Well, its not really graffiti its a small sign with dollars on it to indicate a store/merchant.
Well, actually all of the 2x1's are faction symbols (surviving military, anarchy, and tribal). But I can work on a few alts for you, I just need to finish up some stuff first.
History is working on it right now I think.
Sure, I'm a little busy, but in the meantime you can always just grab the old items.png and throw it in there. :wink.gif:
