Okay, no harm done then. It just seemed worded like you were actually responding to recent posts.
...Well, I tried making the signs have a dark green screen similar to the UI elements of the texture pack, but because of the black text it's a bit hard to read. I might go for a more cyan shade if I have to go brighter; I've always hated bright green computer screens :sad.gif:
Okay, I'm now caught up on all 9 (?) pages of Doku's original thread, all 105 (!) pages of History's thread, and all 26 pages of this one.
I first got this pack right about when you released it for 1.6, but haven't looked back since. I really like the direction this has gone with terrain/items, with one major exception: Food becoming water/medicine/whatever. I don't play without hunger/thirst mods, and it's totally screwy to use water purifiers and drugs to refill my hunger. :s I think it would be better to keep the food items as some sort of... food!
I must admit, the scrap shacks are growing on me a little bit, but I still prefer to alter the textures myself to use Doku's dark for trunks and Faithful leaves. My biome/foliage colours are washed out (brightness +50%) versions of the ones from Faithful, and I still get a little green while keeping that dull, unhealthy look. Savannas in particular look very desolate. I don't mind the trees everywhere; I just chop them down and don't replant :smile.gif:
I also ended up replacing the default stone texture, because my main world has a very large, epic canyon rivaling the gargamel seed. Seeing giant cliffs made of cocoon walls everywhere, then exploring various 'cocoons' and seeing dirt/gravel all over in the walls just doesn't feel right. I use a standard stone texture and just imagine the cocoons as man-made tunnels hewn into the earth. While once very smooth and orderly, the ravages of nuclear war and time have collapsed most of it, but you can still find a large elliptical room here and there. This makes more sense to me than people building massive iron-shelled caverns while fleeing from nuclear war.
I understand, I was trying to make the bread pills, sort of a space man food, or drug for those that wanted to imagine it, because I know those hunger/thirst mods, which will become canon one day. I'll get alt image on the http://www.minecraftcustomizer.net/view.php?pack=Last Days asap for you, check it out tomorrow.
Well the new idea I was trying to push for the trees, was replicating tree technology from the H.I.V.E. scientists, meant to help reshape the ruined landscape. Much like fallout's GECK (Garden of Eden Creation Kit http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Garden_of_Eden_Creation_Kit) thought to help the survivors on the first departure from the H.I.V.E.'s.
Frankly I was sick of the wood plank texture for the leaves. I like making bushes/hedges.
I'll look at doing the 50% brightness to all alt textures too. That's a great idea. and for the grass too.
There's a variety of alt stone in the http://www.minecraftcustomizer.net/publish.php?pack=Last Days let me know if you want anything else. I think I meant to have a plain stone version in there, I might have forgotten. I'll try to get one as just seamless stone, but the same texture as the original, and one as a ruff stone, as if cut.
Anyways, thanks for the input, I'll be making changes to the customize for it, and when croco gets back he can modify the original pack as he see fits. He looks at criticism very importantly.

Great Idea, I'll try to do some work up too, just change the brightness a bunch, and add a bit of contrast and it should pop, as long as you got only the green selected.
Who you replying to, exactly? Your post seems condescending (and in some places outright hostile), but I haven't seen any negative or hostile posts here within the last few pages. Did I miss a post somewhere?
...More re: texture alterations, I've been messing with foliagecolor.png in an attempt to make scrap shacks have a little biome variation (not as in traditional leaf colours, but in terms of colours that define varying amount of rust/acid erosion). Any suggestions for how I should tweak it to look better? I'm playing around with hue/saturation atm with the vanilla foliagecolor.png, but there's still too much 'tree' in the colour unless I radically alter it. Maybe I should start with looking at how aluminum looks when tarnished :s
The alt textures are definitely very helpful. One of the stone textures doesn't look so obviously tiled from far away, but still gives that 'cocoon wall' look from up close. With a bit of tweaking, I think I can make the cliffs look a lot less artificial without losing that nice look inside the caves. Choices between which styles for tools are amazing (I really like the spear-shaped primitive pickaxes), but I wish you had put the old-style bowgun in as an alternate bow texture. The harpoon gun looks nice, but I've always been a fan of bowguns thanks to Chrono Trigger :biggrin.gif:
In my quest to add/recommend interesting alternate textures, I'm looking at options for tall grass/seeds/crops/wheat/bread right after I mess around with signs. Someone posted a sign-as-terminal a while ago in this thread, and it doesn't really work in-game due to being smaller than the text boundaries and being too clean-looking. I'm hoping to draw something that overcomes both of those limitations :ohmy.gif:
EDIT: Nvm, it was in History's thread. Here is the post I'm talking about.
Yeah, pretty much the crops wheat bread and signs i'll work at today. the grass i'm making alts for, it's harder to do then thought. i do like the piles of stones and stuff i came up with recently, and the broken 'crops' as tall grass is nice. I'm going to make some different looking crop machines though, just so it's not all water extractor looking.
Hey, thanks for the reply! :biggrin.gif: I've been working on an en_US.lang to match my lore, and so far I can work out the 'water purifier' texture as a sort of food auto-sanitizer that is planted in the ground to make 'apocalicious' food paste. I'm definitely interested in seeing what other ideas you can draw up while I'm working on other re-textures, though.
I've been playing with the walled city gen mod, so I haven't gotten a chance to take pictures of some of my texture alterations. Lemme get through this 40-hr weekend before I get on that =_=
Not sure why you wouldn't be able to use it. Try downloading Notepad++; it can handle editing raw text no matter what file extension, and you should get an 'Edit with Notepad++' right there in the context menu when you right click it on your desktop. They might even have Slovenian language support. :smile.gif:
Whenever I try to download Last Days from the Minecraft customizer, it says "Internet explorer cannot display this webpage." Does anyone know if I can do anything about this? And if so, what?
Alright, the dyes are done, since we finished the wool blocks, and the signs i re did with green textures like the selections, i also added a Orbital Industries logo on the back and a faded version, or none for the both the regular and techno sign. and the icon to go with the techno sign.
i made an alternative for wheat and the bread as powder and pills, *space man food*
also redid the sun and the moon for higher resolutions.
I like some of the new textures! I wish there was still an option for the plain "bottles" of dye just so I could see them side-by-side and know what's what. I'm especially confused by that purple-ish thing in the upper right. It looks sorta like a cake icing bag. o_O
Here are a few lovely screenshots of Orbital Industries weapons testing sites (walled city mod w/ template that spawned & activated Industrial Craft nuke blocks). If you look closely, you can see a tiled texture for my smooth stone. At a distance, though, it blends well and is almost unnoticeable unless the player is moving. I call it the 'Subtlety' texture. Hills look like hills from far away, without sacrificing that manufactured look inside the H.I.V.E.
The stone texture is just an altered version of one of the options in the pack. I adjusted the brightness of the outer 'tile' edges of the texture to make them stand out less.
Thank you especially for:
New sign texture. It looks a lot like the one I was working on.
New dye textures. I can't tell for sure what colours some of them are supposed to be, but it's nice not to have little bottles anymore.
New minecart icons. I actually use a lot of powered/storage carts in my branch mine/on the roadways between my bases, so having nice icons for them is great.
New sun/moon. Looking up at the sky is pleasant again :smile.gif:
Bowgun! <3
While you're improving the sky visuals, any chance of a higher-res cloud texture? I'm no good with making those kinds of images >_>

Asking a second time, since I didn't get any reply the first.

as it turns out, you can't do much to change cloud resolution, i did make that full nasty looking yellow and brown one, and i am planning on doing more, but it's slightly hard, since each pixel in the file makes each cloud.
i posted the subtle light, and called the other subtle dark. i likes it
So I have been trying to get the sound pack to work, but the sound enabler mod is holding me up. Whenever I replace the cx.class from the mod with the one in my minecraft.jar, I just get a black screen when I try to play. Any idea what's wrong?

FALLOUT INSPIRE MINECRAFT TEXTURE PACK
It's stylistically similar to the default one. But with a bunch of fake "RPG" equip slots, and, as a result, a horribly misplaced crafting grid.
