So basically, I've been studying the aesthetic values of texture packs for some time now, and this is what I've extrapolated:
What's nice about simple packs for me? The coloring and lighting; it's not dark, dismal, or depressing. For the most part, a lot of simple packs offer great contrast between colors and values, but my only problem with them is that they're simple. I prefer basking in the detail of a good texture pack -- which leads me to my next point. With a lot of the more expertly hand-drawn, beautifully textured, and more detailed texture packs, the colors tend to stray too far into dull and dreary patterns. I get so tired of being in a Minecraft world where the wooden planks are detailed fantastically, but they're dark and depressing. I also greatly enjoy the convenience of a 16x pack, so all in all, I decided to create the texture pack that is currently before you.
Any feedback is highly appreciated. I am willing to make adjustments as I see fit. Also, I have not edited mobs and I do not plan on editing them anytime soon. I will continue to update this pack with the essential textures as well as some other things if I feel up to it.
Please do not use any of the textures from the pack publicly. It's alright to mix and match for your own personal use, but do not include any part of this pack in remixes/released packs of your own. Thank you.
This looks really nice and i agree with you on that most of the really good detailed packs are dark and depressing can't wait to try it! :biggrin.gif: Thanks

i think it looks best if the gold trim just get's moved out to the very edge, it might look strange if it's too wide.
also consider that the top of the chest doesn't rotate with the chest.
those where the only things that kinda bugged me so i'm pretty sure your pack will have a huge success!
Ah, I'll have to experiment with it a little then. Thank you very much for your input, I really do appreciate it.
Dropping in to say thank you for creating this. I've tried out so many great texture packs, and this one is going into my save stash. I really like the GUI. Most people tend to overlook it and don't put alot of effort into it. Anyways, I look forward to seeing what come next.

Simple, but detailed.
Yeehaw.
Very good.
Just what I was going for. Thank you for noticing.

No problem, thank you for the kind words.
Literally lol'd. Thanks Ghost.
Thank you.
Ah, I see how that could be an issue.
Perhaps if this harbors more attention, then I suppose I could try and make alternate textures with a customizer. Who knows.
Do you suggest that I perhaps add a gold trim to the sides of the chest, as the front and top have?
Hmmm... I might clean it up a little then.
Thank you for your constructive criticism; I hope to make this pack as best as it can be.
