Here's a quick list of the variations from the default textures:
Mossy cobble and cobble are both brick style but differ from each other
Lapiz blocks are mosaics
The Nether is now Davey Jone's Locker (netherrack is an ocean floor pattern, soul sand is seaweed, and glowstone is a lantern)
Gold and Iron blocks are cases of bricks
Ores are more vein-like (except for diamond, they are in fact diamonds)
Birch trees are bamboo
Regular trees are Palm Trees
Dispensers are cannons with fuses (which means the furnace must also have a fuse... oh well)
Torches of both regular and redstone variety are now lanterns
Red and yellow flowers are Hibiscus
Tnt is a bomb
Bedrock is a skull and crossbones... er... cross swords
Redstone is gunpowder
Bookshelves have a ship in a bottle :biggrin.gif:
Desert shrubs are aloe vera
Cake is rum cake
Added an eye-patch for the leather helmet texture, and a red and white striped pirate vest for leather curiass currently working on the rest
Forest plants are bird of paradise plants
Pumpkins are Tiki Torches
Wheat is sugar cane (this may be improved in later versions, not sure how I feel about it right now)
More screenies (taken on location at the battlecraft server marketplace):
Future changes / ideas:
Swords will become cutlasses
Armor will be pirate themed (bandannas, eye-patches(if possible?), fancy jackets, boots, peg legs(again, if possible), feathered hats)
Ghasts may become whales to fit with the Davey Jones Locker theme in the nether
Zombie pigmen will be pirate ghosts
Zombies will be undead pirates
Chickens will be parrots
Eventually I will get to items, once I figure out what I am going to do with 99% of them

THIS IS A HIGHER THAN NORMAL TEXTURE RESOLUTION! Therefore you MUST download the hd texture patch in order to use this texture pack. You can download it here
Any questions, feel free to let me know via email: Email me
I do know that a bug exists where this maaaay blackscreen minecraft... I think that it may be because of not installing the hd patch. I am looking into it.
Also, feedback (preferably good... you know, "hey, awesome job", "this is the greatest texture pack ever", "this texture pack helped fix my marriage", "this texture pack saved my life", "I love this texture pack so much I've been playing minecraft for 17 days without sleep" etc.) feel free to let me know
sidenote: my photoshop file for this project has reached over 120 layers. :biggrin.gif: awesome!
You don't need the Mcpatcher to use a hd texture pack, it's just recommended.
Water, fire, portal, gold and diamond blocks will look weird and your clock and compass will not work if you don't patch your game to the resolution the texture pack is, but the pack will still work without the pacther.
If he wouldnt write 'you MUST', people would just skip that step and later complain about the 'bug in your texture pack!'

It won't work properly without the patcher...period.

Yea, you don't need it, necessarily, but it's nice when I don't have to answer everyone's questions having to do with gold, brick, water, lava, and all the entire nether not functioning properly.
Also, like I said at the end of my post, this pack has black screened minecraft, and I'm like 99% sure it was because the people that used it didn't have the patch installed. In one case it black screened with the texture pack just sitting in the folder, not even activated yet. Making it mandatory to download the hd patcher before downloading the texture pack is kind of my way of bug testing to see if its on my end or the fact that they didn't patch it yet.
