I was wondering what you all thought of two important textures: leaves and grass. I'll hold my opinion aside until later, but I think leaves and grass are two of the most important textures when it comes to making a texture pack and wanted some feedback.
Also, thoughts on ice...should it be less transparent?
I wasn't going to comment on the leaves, because I don't think it bugs anyone but me, but the leaves are transparent enough that hedges are pretty much see-through, sadly. The trees look really good (though there is a bit of a shimmer along the edges if you're moving) so I didn't want to mention it. I'm not sure if you should change it or not.
The grass is good. It could probably be improved upon but if you left it as-is, I'd be perfectly happy with it.
I just went out to an ice covered area, and yeah it's a little bit too transparent. Don't change it too much, just make it a bit cloudy if possible. Slightly off-topic; Ice uses alpha transparency, right? Why do they say glass can't?

Of all the leaves and grass I have made, the two in the pack were my favorites. And yes, I think something is missing in the grass, I'm gonna try playing with the contrast.
Your question regarding ice: glass can't be alpha transparent because it wasn't coded that way in Minecraft, that's the only reason. If not, stained glass windows would be prevalent in many packs :smile.gif: Sadly, I don't know why they don't change it. Maybe they'd have to make the whole texture alpha, which would make the frame ugly...but no clue. Does the vanilla window have a frame? If not I don't know why they didn't. Never have.
The default glass texture only has a partial frame, there's the "glare" effect on all but about a dozen pixels of the edge. I've always wanted stained glass in the base game. :sad.gif:
Hey! Your that same guy who did the Basico pack thingy. Congrats man! I really hope this pack will be just as fantastic as the other one! :biggrin.gif:
Sorry, but I can't let this texture pack go three days without comment. The leaves and grass are a signature of the texture pack. You, sir, are the John Hancock of texture packs. A bold, brave stroke starting something new. I love that there isn't anything else like it. Keep up the hard work. I expect a finished version for 1.8. Consider the whip cracked.

Yes massa! Sorry guys, got a little burnt out doing this. Took some time off and played the game, and other ones as well. I'm back now, and will continue on this tonight and this week.
Okay, I've managed to implement most of the suggestions you guys gave (soul sand, wood/stone brightness, cobblestone color, door window size, steps, ice, etc). I added the cactus textures, TNT textures, iron block, jukebox, and am finishing some other placeholders I had from Basico. The workbench is being a pain in the butt, as are pumpkins. The mossy cobblestone block is...meh...we'll see. I haven't even touched the diamond block or the wheat ([email protected][email protected]#^ wheat).
Hopefully I'll have a Beta version up sometime this weekend.
You are making amazing progress, don't forget to play. O.k. enough play - back to work. Have you ever thought about changing up the pumpkin for something more exotic? Like Arachnocampa larvae or a bush full of Pteroptyx fireflies? Which would be even sweeter if they could be animated. Anyways, keep up the hard work. True artist bleed for their art. Photoshop till you drop.
I decided to give this pack a whirl cause I love your Basico pack so much and I'm just simply in love with it. I think my absolute favorite parts of the textures are the woods (straight up bark and panks both) as well as the grass and dirt. They're amazing and I've shown off some screens to friends who agreed that the wood is beautiful and the grass looks amazing.
I'm not-fussed about the leaves one way or another, but they look good
My only issue stems with the stone, so I'm curious to see how you've tweaked it in your next update!
Hey Man really like the texture pack. You finally gave me one as I have been looking like wild for a good pack. You could say I have ADHD when it comes to minecraft texture packs, cause I never, absolutely NEVER have stayed with one pack for more than a month at best. But now finally I think thats gonna change with this pack. My one little pet peeve is the smoothestone/raw stone
I, being the demanding little ****** that I can be, like to build greek-styled buildings. The main ingredient for that however, is smoothestone that's smooth. If you could make yours a bit smoother, or just make a smooth alternate for me to paste and smack it on, would be IMMENSLY appreciated

Already done and implemented as an alternate texture for next update :smile.gif:
Awesome, nice work.
I do have a few comments though. I think that the stone and grass could use a little shading so it has a little depth. I get the feeling that the textures for stone, cobble, gravel, and water are a bit compressed so you could fit more detail in. I think it would be nice if you expanded the textures a bit. I think that the cobble should look a little like the Netherack. Love the ores, torches, and furnaces.

Thanks, always appreciated.

No, sorry chief.

I do have a few comments though.
Its been a couple of weeks since you have been on your thread.
