Wooo! I did it! I think I have the water done well now. I wanted it to be something smooth, yet still alive like an actual lake would be. Small ripples and slight shiny spots to show mini waves and reflections made by the usual movement of water from minor disturbances.
:biggrin.gif: I'm never looking at another water texture again!
Ugh...i gotta do my water texture soon. You're making it sound really hard...
It wasn't fun but that may just be because my mind has a hard time understanding how the lighting off water works. Watch videos of lake surfaces on youtube, it helped me. :3
Here's pictures of what I came up with. :smile.gif: The only issue is there's random white...lines, between each block (you can see it in the 2nd picture). o_O I'm not sure how to get rid of them. Going to ask around. They're not a part of my blocks, they're like between each individual block.
Edit: Apparently the white lines is my own issue (video card), not something to do with the texture pack, so yay!
the one problem i have with dark texture packs is that if its over done, you get this "pitch black" effect at night and in caves. so if you are doing an adventure map or something you sometimes end up having to switch to a lighter texture pack to navigate certain areas.
not to say i wouldn't download it just to see what my buildings would look like in this form (I do that a lot)

Gosh, I never considered that actually. o_O I'll have to keep that in mind. Although how many people walk around in caves without lights and expect it to be lit? Heh. I will check it out and make sure it isn't too dark, though. For those who enjoy lightless cave exploration. :biggrin.gif:

Yay! I'm glad you like it! :biggrin.gif: Who would've thought the hardest part of my pack would be little bloopy, translucent dots of light?
Everyone who's ever made custom animated water actually :tongue.gif:
I made it from scratch as well. (twice) Easily the worst part about making a pack!
Okie dokie, so here's the new Redstone Torches. I made them look like...glowsticks. I didn't intend to, but they came out that way. At first I was trying to do something similar to the lanterns that I'm using for torches, but it just didn't look right. So I figured a 'vial' of redstone would look neato!
I still have to make the base of the redstone repeaters, so that'll probably be next. I also tinkered with the tall grass but that's not yet ready for show-n-tell. Sort of having trouble deciding if I want to use tall, choppy grass or compacted, short grass. Hmm. I did finish up the desert bush thing though, and boy does it look creepy.
Oh, and you can also notice the new smoke particles I've made. :biggrin.gif: I actually made these when I made the lantern torches, I just never updated with a new screenshot of them.
Woohoo! Another update! I've finished the grasses and the bushes. I did not want the tall grass to be the exact same color as the grass block, it looked...strange. It blended in too much from afar and was pretty hard to see unless you were right next to it. So I added a few lighter colored strands in the front. I also made the living shrubs little bushes instead of ferns.
The dead shrub is some sort of creepy plant based on the Kangaroo Paw plant, which looks downright weird to me. I tweaked it a bit to make the base brownish to match the desert look.
Wahoo! My very first...box, block. Thing. The Crafting Table!
I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. I didn't want to add visible tools to it - I wanted something much more tidy. :happy.gif: I added cute little boxes of various colors, shapes, and sizes. Even a roll of parchment/cloth at the bottom. On the top is a workspace complete with a work cloth!
Yay! More updates! I'm piling out these textures like a powerhouse on steroids! I've done my chests as well and I actually like how they came out. At first I tried to do an intricate design blah blah, but it really didn't look...right.
Good ol' fashioned wood and brass seem to do the trick. I've developed a bit of a style for the pack's table blocks as well with the dark wood and the brass corners/borders. I think I may stick with this.
I'm also working on the diamond block a bit more. I'm going to be adding a brassy box sort of thing for it to be inside.
After that, I'll finish up the record player, trap door, and the note blocks and I think that's it for my table blocks. Then I need to do the furnace and the dispenser which will look differently and be made of stone.
Blah I'm rambling on again. Here's the eyecandy!
Sorry for the awkward angle, the single chest always faces away from other blocks. :dry.gif:
That water is so awesome. It really pulls the "dark, whimsical"-ness of the pack together. The redstone torches are nice (a little tall, IMO), and the crafting table is very unique and well-done...it could use a little more detail...it's kind of smooth. The color of the lanterns, now that I see it in-game a little more, are very nice.
And that glass in the background is very nice...*even if you haven't technically announced it yet*
loving the updates spirit. The redstone torch looks like it could benefit from a base of some kind, to make it less glow stick like. the grass and desert plant look good. as does the crafting table.
the chest seems a little dull, I like how it flows into the crafting table, it just seems a tad, boring. but that's just me hahaha. others will love it, I'm just fussy.
The notes on the redstone torches will be noted! It does seem a teensy bit too tall, and you're right - I think a base would take that rave feeling away.
As far as the chests go, I did agree with you at first - hence me trying some ornate designs on it, so I'll keep trying to add more to it. I suppose plain wood looked better than the poop that I was attempting to put on it with designs, heh.
Oh gosh, how did I not notice that?! Thanks! All fixed and OCD-friendly. :biggrin.gif:
I also added leather straps to the double chest (it looked strange on the single chest). Not sure what to add to the single chest to give it more oomph. I may even add more to the double chest if I can think of things.
Woo! Furnace is finished. I shall edit with screenshots soon!
Still debating over whether or not to release a terrain beta. In one hand, I don't really want the pack to be seen until it's done. But on the other hand, I really want to get some good feedback from people looking at my textures and not at screenshots of my textures. Hmm.. :unsure.gif:

TBH I'd release it. I'll look at screenshots of of a texture pack and think it looks nice. Then I'll download it and it'll look nothing like the screenshots. You lose details when you go from in game textures to textures represented via screenshot. Its hard to give criticism over something you can't "physically" interact with. Just my opinion.

Excuse the ugly lever, I'm reskinning that.

keep up the great work spirit.

The chests are fine. Just, the brass corners...they're like a pixel off from eachother...look at the top and sides. I'm OCDing over it...
