Edit: Rofl, no worries...mate! (du-dun-tsssh!) I didn't even realize that mate was a male thing. o-o
It's rather gender non-specific here but I have met a few Americans and British who took offence to them being female and me calling them mate. haha. I'm just trying to be polite.
ooooo, off topic again, would you recommend the tablet you have? If so could you PM me a link to the actual model?
The soulsand as I said the tiling only seemed a bit strange, it could be the angle indeed, or the colour mix could just be throwing my eyes off a bit. Obviously I eagerly await your changes to the flowers, I think you can do something brilliant with them. Even perhaps mix some mauve and rich maroon flowers into the red ones for depth of colour, and perhaps gold and orange and maybe cream flowers for the yellow ones? not sure how that would look but its an idea.
I do like the idea of incorporating colors into the flowers. I honestly think that after doing the logs and the netherrack today I got sloppy with my work. After you pointed out a lot of things that could be potentially improved on, I slap myself in the forehead for not noticing it before!
I shall head to bed though and work more on this tomorrow. I will be sure to update with pictures and all sorts of goodies! Thanks again for your help!

I wouldn't say im helpful, probably just making more work for you hahaha. I think care and attention is the key to what makes a good pack, those that take their time (ala; johnsmith, doku, andrejolicoeur, eld to name a few [I'm sure there is more]) are the ones that get the most attention and look the best. tweaking a few pixels in your textures to make it perfect rather than just brilliant I think is what it's all about.
Look forward to the updates tomorrow.
also I will see your notch and raise you a .... oopssssss.

This is very true!
If you rush work then you're most likely going to end up having to redo it because it will (most likely) look sloppy compared to the textures you took your time with.
I've had a couple of experiences with that... :tongue.gif:

I'm loving seeing the progress of this pack though its fantastic, and it allows for some input from us as a community rather than everything being set in stone from the first release. As long as spirit is happy with things then thats what matters most I think.
EDIT --
also its a tiny niggle and I feel bad as I said that there was nothing wrong with it.
it looks slightly squashed where it joins (think its sitting about 1 pixel off) and the one in the corner doesn't join at all. Sorry, I just can't ignore it now.
Yeah that's what I love about this too! I'd hate to make a pack all on my lonesome without any help from anyone. I want to make a pack that the community loves and what better way to do that then to have them help with the creation of the thing itself?
And doh, you're totally right Dorian. I thought there was something off about the Netherrack! I'll go stitch that up right now! I'm back and ready for some more texture-making craziness!
I will look forward to putting my critique cap on tonight (assuming you don't blow me out of the water and make them all perfect, which would rock hahah)
Huff puff, I will be working on this soon. I've taken a break from texturing for today. I did the lava and just...wasn't happy with it. I think I've burnt myself out the past 2-3 days doing this nonstop. I shall, however, work more on it this evening! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks so much for the comments! Expect screenshots soon!
Added photo of the Nether with the new Lava and Soulsand texture. :smile.gif: Took me forever to get through the roof of the place. >_<
Anywho, expect more screenshots later! I've updated the following...
Glass - Retouched the frame a bit. Looked too splotchy for my liking.
Leaves - I've filled in a few more gaps in the center.
Netherrack - Stitched up the sides to tile correctly.
Flowers - Changed some colors around. Added variety.
Wood - Added a little more strength in the detail (not as soft edging).
Obsidian - Tweaked colors a teensy bit. It may still be unnoticeable in screenshots.
Iron ore - Embedded the ore into the stone a bit more.
I'll update screenshots to show these changes soon!
I plan on finishing the water tonight and giving the doors a shot. :smile.gif:
iron ore - its looking better, still think the rock behind them needs tweaking, the cracks are still just following the default stone, where it wont create tiling issues (so anywhere but the edge) the rock should look like it converges into the ore, the cracks and lines should follow more of the shape of the ores. Each update its improving though.
lava and soulsand- I can't see the soul sand really good but its look good from what I can see. the lava is good for a start but has some pretty serious tiling issues from what i can see, not sure if thats just the way its flowing or not.
I just saw soulsand in the flower picture, I like it, very nice. would make for some great features in created jungles or underground caverns for moss ect.
mushrooms - yes.... just yes. i really really like them. a++
wooden and iron door - i like them but dont love them. is that iron door from some other pack? cause i already have that texture or something EXTREMELY similar on my computer, sorry to be a downer. the wooden door is cool, but it blends in a little much, perhaps some iron hinges and an iron ring for a handle or something on it? maybe some detailing in the window or something? what kind of look are you going for with the doors? another thing about the wooden door is it wont look brilliant as two right next to each other, it looks like its very much designed with only one in mind. (this is all just my opinion again)
flowers - looking much better. they still dont have real centers on the flowers i think that is making how awesome they are suffer a little bit (but it depends what flowers they are. And in my opinion I would still make them deeper tones of the colours you want. but they are looking great.
grass - looking much better, really happy with it now. and the snow of course is great.
all in all a good update, thanks for your hard work on this spirit!

Argh, really?! I looked on Google for an image of an Iron Door and used that for a reference, it's possible that someone else used the same reference image. If that's the case, I'm just going to say oh well >_> they don't have any more claim to it than I do.

this is true, but i dont think it does your artistic talent justice is all I will pm you some images i hunted down that i think may suit the 'dark' feel of your pack better (so as not to spam up this thread with links)
just for ideas sake.
the pack is looking great though spirit, coming along well.

Lol Okay. :smile.gif: You're probably right. I think I just fell in love with that iron door. I'm checking around a bit more for another door myself. Gah, I'm just ticked all to heck that someone else is using the same style.
And about the iron ore: I'm still not really liking it either. :< I may just redo the ore all together. Trying to make it fit into something it's not is proving to be unfruitful.

yeah yeah, i dont dislike it, I just think judging by your other textures you haven't hit perfection yet. the comment I made about the rock formation into the ore I was talking about all of them, I will try an hunt an example down later on (have to drive to back to my actual home in a second which will be about an hour or two)
If you are liking your textures, don't let my opinion change them either haha, this is your pack dont forget.
good luck. here is a to store your ideas in.
Hmmm, you may be right about the soulsand Herp! I did feel like it made the Nether look...Christmasy. I shall look at the colors again and perhaps tweak it to a a less blueish tone and maybe to a more yellow/orangey color!
Oh and I see what you mean about the ores, Dorian. :biggrin.gif: I will look at them again!
I am checking out some new doors now but it'll take some time. I already have an alternate texture sheet so I may add them for people who like variety and uniqueness.

Edit: Oh and might I ask what pack you saw that door in? I'm just curious now. D:

Will be updating shortly with an updated mossy cobblestone picture.
Heck, I may even just take a group shot of everything together. The screenies list is getting sort of long..

its on my computer in a folder called JP, its not a great pack at all. But it is that exact door an nearly identical to yours.
