New update
- added Nether Bricks
- re-did Minecart texture. Should look better in 32x, too
- new rail textures, again. Getting ready for RailCraft tracks
- a few tweaks to RailCraft textures
Well, that put a smile on my face
Have you seen the signal light in action? It looks very cool.
And I ran a ladder up one side of my water tank. Now I can't stop looking at it
Railcraft is looking amazing, and I really love the netherbrick, shame the nether is so dark, guess ill be moving it to somewhere lighter so i can splooge over it more (considers building a room dedicated to awesome textures, but thinking rest of server would probably look at him funny <_<). The wool textures now look the same in each version, ie, nice and sorta sack-cloth-y, which is great!
Excellent! It's good to hear I'm on the right track (accidental pun).
Unless its just me, there is an issue with the crafting table 3 GUI. Its scrollbar doesn't have its thumb (the drag-able bit, which is what its apparently called, after looking it up as I realised I had never in my life had to refer to it before today, thanks for expanding my vocabulary xD), and it is also lacking the built in inventory. I notice your GUI matches the one on mods page, but it hasn't been updated since v1.3, should look like this:
(sorry its not a nice clean pic)
Ahh. The gui in Battered is for the previous version of CT3.
I thought I'd done it for the latest but I must have dreamt it
Thanks for pointing that out, ObsidianDarkness.
(Your pic wouldn't load for me. Have you used that method successfully before?)
Edit: pic showing okay now for some reason.
Btw, sorry if I sound like I'm whining about stuff, so far I haven't had anything to say which didn't include something negative, but really I'm just excited about the levels of awesome contained within this pack.
I never took it as whining.
I just really enjoying making this pack and it's great to know other people are using it and liking it, too.
Thanks for all your feedback, pos or neg
I have a suggestion on improving ore textures (sort of, its more of an OCD organisational thing really). I've spoilered it cause I didn't want to mess up the thread or make you read it if ya didn't want to know.
So, I've been tromping around the now nicely battered ol' minecraftia for a couple more days and I've spotted a little something. Now, I don't know if this is intentional, or down to the fact they were made far apart, but there is a lack of cohesion in the ore textures. (I'm talking with mods here ofc). Now if this is intentional, ie you wanted redpower (and presumably ic2/forestry in the future) to have different style ores, then I guess fair enough. However, its makin' me grumpy lol.
As I'm seeing it, there would be 3-4 types of deposit: powders/dusts, metals, gems, and erm coal (fuel?), but I guess most people fold that into one of the others. You seem to have these types already, but not necessarily applied, as I would consider it, logically. Ah im gonna stop rambling and suggest the groupings, making some assumptions on mods you plan to support, and hope you follow my train of thought:
Coal
Nikolite and redstone using current nikolite texture (and a little redder maybe but now I'm just being an ass)
All metals using the current vanilla ore texture, sparkly for gold and silver, probably include lapis here too (I wouldn't worry about multiples of copper etc, anyone with any sense turns off all but one and as long as that texture is as good as your vanilla one...)
All gems including diamond using the RP gem texture
Apatite using the current silver texture? Otherwise coal texture I guess (I only say this since I love that texture, it just seems a bit weird to have silver seperate like that)
Oh god uranium, I forgot about uranium! Since it s fuel, the coal texture, or the awesome silver texture again?
Do ya see what I'm getting at? Like I said above, I think its just my OCD side, so ignore me if I'm not making sense to ya
The ores deserve criticism. There is a lack of cohesion. And you're right. It's mostly because they were made far apart. A lot of the early textures were hit and miss affairs. I was trying a lot of different techniques and learning as I went.
The RP ores were the first ones to get a consistent approach. Once I've tweaked them up some more I'll probably revisit the core MC ores. As DarkMother has already pointed out, redstone looks like splotches of tomato sauce
I like your idea of groupings. I did a bit of that with RP but the others would benefit, too.
RP is the only mod, so far, where I've re-textured the ores. I don't think I've even looked at other mod ores, yet.
Not sure when I'll do more ores work. Probably when I get to IC2 which is not too far off. I've got a bit of a plan but it's not set in MC stone
- added all the tracks for RailCraft
- tweaked MC rails
- and, not quite done, yet, extra detail for the Switch Tracks.
It's only on one direction of the standard Switch Track in the 64x version.
I'll probably tweak it some more and add the rest for the next release.
Hey so I noticed your doing lots of mods when you should be fixing vanilla. Well Improving. I think (and i don't know is someoone else said this already or if you have said it already) you should update add the following things:
1) the item gui, particles gui
2) add water/lava animations
3) edit the menus, inventory screens, etc so they ar not just the original ones.
4)Melons, Wheat, netherwart, stems, vines, enchantment bench, end stone, cake, brewing stand, neter portal
5) Mobs
Sorry if I am being an asshole about this but I really like where this is going and I dont want to see in ruined by not having the above mentioned items
Other mods:
6)Shaders mod Could make your pack look 20 times better.
7) random mobs mod. If you feaal like making more than 1 mob texture.

Thanks for reading and I hope you update soon
Thank you for the input, Bill I'm glad you're liking it.
I've fiddled with a bit of the stuff you've listed.
They progress slowly because I tend to just work on the stuff that's fun at the time. Usually triggered by what I'm doing in-game or when I add or update a mod.
It will all get done eventually. But, not quickly. I spend a lot of time on each texture.
But, feedback like yours does make a difference.
I'll have another go at doing the items gui for some of my stuff like the bed, door, cart, boat, etc.

- yet another change to the MC rail textures

I've had very little work IRL lately, so, lots of texture time!
Plus, I went a little nuts on the RC stuff. Who needs to sleep or eat?
Thank you, rattleshirt

I think that's because I toggled the edit mode while making the post.
Edit: I tidied up my mess

Thanks, Fabhar.
Hopefully, you won't have too long to wait
Only change is fixing the gui for the latest version of Crafting Table III.

- added a separate texture for Glass floors and ceilings
- tweaked the color of normal Glass. A little less gray, a little more cream
Fixed now.
Sorry about that.

(edited to correct spelling)
- added a new texture for the Iron Door
- added a few (8) item textures for the inventory guis
