Hey ozbillo I think your textures are awsome but do you think that eventually you could make a 32x32 version. You would get more downloads from people like me with bad PCs but think your pack is awsome. Thanks For reading!
Thanks, Coragamy
But, I don't plan to do a 32x version of Battered Old Stuff.
I've had a couple of tries at doing 32x textures but I can't get something that works with the level of detail I like.
I have enormous respect for Eloraam who does such an amazing job of the 16x textures for her RedPower 2 mod.
if they wanted a 32x version they could just use gimp or some other paint program that supports scaling and scale it down to half the rez while disabling interpolation so there isnt bluring of the textures into each other.
I've uploaded a 32x version of Battered Old Stuff.
It only has the core MC stuff for now.
But it includes the art, boat, minecart, moon phases, and iron golem Gort.
No Connected Textures, yet.
The mods will be where I'll have trouble, I reckon.
Try it out and let me know what you think.
Added a new top for bookshelves and a new wooden pressure plate texture.
Added connected textures to the 32x version.
Added textures for Crafting Table II to the 32x version.
Tweaked oak leaves (I know. It's exciting!).
And a couple of small surprises.
I have a vision of creepers wearing fedoras when you start doing mobs.
Hi MuadDib_1
I've always said I'd leave mob textures to awesome artists like Misa.
But, as my abrupt change of heart on the 32x version shows, I should never say never
If only creepers could wear hats :/
thats a hard choice but i think im really curiose about the front furnace texture, doesnt have to be the lit. the coloring and rusted appearance without be overly exaggerated just amazes me

The furnace was one of the earlier textures in the pack. It's been revisited many times as I've learnt stuff in PaintShop Pro. And the rusty look went through a few stages to get where it is now. Most recentyly to redden the rusty background.
I worked with a group of aged metal textures. Mixed and fiddled in PSP until I got a good old metal background I liked. The furnace detail is in one of the top layers. I erased a lot of that to let the rusty background show through.
Generally I work in 256x256 and make sure important lines and details fall on 4 pixel boundaries. That way, when I resize to 64x, the important lines don't go too blurry.
I'll sometimes overlay some roughness before I resize and I may use a little bit of sharpening after.
And lots of layers. 30 for the furnace. That way I can change individual parts and experiment, etc.
when you say the line falls on a 4 pixel boundary do you mean that you make the line 4 pixel thick or that the line touches a custom grid line of 4x4? also i think the most amount of layers ive used is 13 i would loose track with 30 hahaha well thanks man
this is an example of the type of stuff i do
no premade textures just using filters, shadow drops, bumpmaps, maybe emboss etc

That's a great looking chest!
For that sort of thing I'd often add a shadow layer under the top stuff using a soft black brush. A bit like this...
Thanks, Coragamy

Did a different bookshelf top with less pattern repeat.

Fixed the Connected Textures for glass in the 32x version.
Ahhh. I took a shortcut on the tops coz I only make boring rectangular bookshelves.
I'll get that fixed for the next version.
Added in the missing Connected Textures for the top and bottom of bookshelves.
If you pick a specific texture I'll try and tell you what I did.

Yeah, it does look a little funny in this case.
It's just one of the things I do to soften edges and de-emphasize the cubishness of everything.
