Well, I'm working on this new texture pack titled artisancraft, but I can't seem to figure out how to make it selectable in-game. I can instal it by replacing the default terrain.png in the minecraft.jar folder, but I can't make it chooseable in the "mods and texture packs" (Like how, say, Painterly pack works) option, and it seems kinda unprofessional to have make it require mannual instalation. I've tryed all kinds of file folders to put the textures in, from zip to rar to jar, but I can never get it to appear in the mods and texture packs menu. Help please?
Note: If you decide to be VERY nice and give a video tutorial, please just provide the youtube link, because I can't view videos off the forum for whatever reason.
You shouldn't inject anything into the minecraft.jar anymore. (Not for texture packs, anyway)
To have it selectable, have your texture pack inside a zip archive. (Make sure it's NOT a folder inside a zip archive).
Then start Minecraft and login. Go to the "Mods and Texture Packs" menu and click the "Open Texture Pack folder" button. Place your zip file in this folder and it should be selectable.
Thanks! Something about dragging it in while the game is open instead of putting there before oppening it made it work for some reason.

ok first
just select all the files you want to go into the texture pack (be it mobs , or just the texture .png)
now rightclick and say add to archive
then choose zip
then put the created zip in the C:\Users\?????\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\texturepacks
got it???
I know, I've been doing that, but it doesen't work.
