Unless I am mistaken, torchlight is hard-coded into the game. This pack's torches give off the same amount of light as default. It is probably just the darker nature of the rest of the blocks that makes you believe that the torches are giving off less light. I, for one, prefer darker textures in games. But, if you don't think it fits, then just choose another texture pack.
This pack is a nice one that got second place in the texture pack contest if you really want "light" textures.
Pro tip: Constructive criticism is usually appreciated. That is, criticism separated from personal prejudice. Sorry for the petulant nature for these comments, but my blood was up.
People don't seem to realize that the way torches are created have nothing to do with the level of light in a given room. How dark the textures are around them, the unobstructed view to the light, and placement are all among the deciding factors of how "lit" a room is.
The color of the flame or torch light has no bearing on it either. It's a matter of a light textured pack vs a dark one. Look at mine or Croco's packs if you want to see some really dark rooms

The terrain and items are now updated to 1.7, hopefully.
Ha ha! I bet you are the first to update everything in the whole of Minecraftia! Lol!
Awesome, mate and everything is looking very spiffing, you've done an amazing amount of work on it since I last visited. Love the cobble to bits and the lighting is very much to my taste as I'm sure you'll understand. We dark paletted one's will always get comments about turning the torch lights down...it is our curse! :biggrin.gif:
Like Faust, I know what you mean about editing existing blocks. If i could get away with it, all I'd work on is little 32x32 squares. It's the best bit about texturing as far as i'm concerned.

Thank you very much Glimmar :smile.gif: I'm placing a bet that as soon as the update rolls around, I'll have to change everything because I didn't have a base. I have to say, the dark palet is my preferred to work on, it just looks better in my opinion. It really is much more fun at a smaller scale, it seems.
wow. this is 16x16 and it puts my texture pack to shame :sad.gif: mines not that good but :tongue.gif:
i love this, nice work
Thank you very much, I took a look at your pack, it's quite good.
Before I release 1.0.3, which has a piston fix, bed fix, cake fix, shear fix, and more, I would like to ask the opinion of anyone who cares. Which of these netherracks do you like best:
1.0.3 -
•Changed Wild Grass
•Changed Piston Bottom
•Changed Oak Log
•Added a new Netherrack to the alternates sheet (more flowery)
•Changed Netherrack to Netherplank (I'll change it back if asked)
•Moved the bed and cake down, to fit the 1.7 terrain sheet
•Changed Mob Spawner
•Changed the Bookshelf
•Flipped Shears
I totally love all three netherracks. But the second is my favorite.
Very nice work Tlos!
I like it too, to an extent but I have one problem with it. It doesn't blend well in building.
It fits about as well as the first one though, so if anyone else wants the second one, I'll switch it over.
I see and know what you mean. You make a texture and go "FRIGGIN COOL!". Then you see it being used other than the ground....kinda like my first mossy cobbles...

That would be a byproduct of the darker colors on some of the blocks. I assure you, I have not edited the light given off in the least bit.
Thank you two for helping explain
In other news, I've made the jump to version 1.0!
Changelog:
With that, all the editable files (save the text) have been edited.
From here on out, I'm just going to be updating blocks that I grow weary of.

Thank you very much, I plan to.
I know it's fast, but I have yet another update, just because a few blocks were bugging me (That didn't take long).
1.0.2 (Yes, it jumped, I made a mistake in the last number, I'll fix it in a second.)
Yes, that's right, I actually have something that fits the name of the pack now!

This brings not only changes to the numbers, but my first (abet simple) animation to the lava! When I say simple, I mean really simple.
It's white. D:
