A nitpicky suggestion: old splashes and block/item names. People frequently suggest me to add old names to OldDays, but I don't see any ways in which I can do that. However, resource packs can easily do that.
So:
Sugar Canes -> Reeds
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood Planks -> Wooden Planks
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood Slab -> Wooden Slab
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood Stairs -> Wooden Stairs
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood -> Wood
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Leaves -> Leaves
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Sapling -> Sapling
Jack o'Lantern -> Jack 'o' Lantern
Et cetera.
Hey, you know how to put the exact color of the leather armor, in case you did not know was edited leather_ # _overlay.png.
Look at the result.
No errors, no mods.
But then you don't get to see what color other people have on their leather armor D:
And then I might as well turn all dyed wool into the white wool texture, and the same with the hardened clay.
So no, the leather should still be dyeable, for consistency
Those terrain images are screenshots taken from Alpha itself, not this texture pack. I'd like to see some pictures of the actual texture pack in action.

Really? I did not know that Alpha had biomes (And bright green grass in the same version) and sandstone.
Also I did not know that Alpha said "Minecraft Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3" in the main menu.
Now seriously:
Those screenshots are from Beta 1.7.3.
Menu screenshot is from Beta 1.9pre3. (The menu is very inaccurate at all, because it's not possible to completely revert that panorama thing with a pack)

Notice I said terrain images, not all the images. The screenshot of a landscape and the first screenshot are clearly taken in Alpha. They have terrain that is impossible to generate with the game's current features, so unless you spent a few hours shaping the land to the exact way Alpha would've formed it, I seriously doubt those are recent.
Also, if you look VERY carefully in the first image, you can see that the large tree has branches that are not rotated sideways like they would be in a recently generated world.
Of course, I understand that this thread was made shortly after the release of Beta 1.6, but surely after so many updates the OP should've updated at least the images, right?

Notice that I said "biomes". If you will look VERY carefully in the first image, you can see that the trees are "grouped", forming a forest. Also the sky color is different from Alpha one.
And if you will look even more carefully in the second image, you will notice a desert.
All of them were taken in Beta 1.7.3. Why do you expect 2XMM2 to replace all screenshots on every update?
I know that this terrain is impossible in current versions, but there was a period when biomes did already exist, but such terrain was still possible — Alpha 1.2.0–Beta 1.7.3.
The thread was created on 02 June 2011. By that time the actual version was Beta 1.7.3.

I'm sorry, I didn't actually post the whole of that reply in one instant. I kept going back and looking at the original post, so you missed:
... Of course, I understand that this thread was made shortly after the release of Beta 1.6, but surely after so many updates the OP should've updated at least the images, right?
By the way, excellent mod. :-)
Now excuse me while I go to the OP and examine the images once again. Alright, you can't say for sure that the second image contains a desert because the only questionable patch of sand I see is at the top and contains no cacti or dead bushes (or any evidence) to support your claim that it is a desert. Those clues don't even exist elsewhere in the screenshot, or even in the first one.
I don't expect 2XMM2 to replace the photographs on every update, but at the very least I expect him to replace them after NINE updates, including four extremely major updates and not to mention the switch from Beta to the official release of the game.
I'm not noticing birch trees in the forest (tree generation varied from place to place even in Alpha versions, meaning that forests and seemingly plain areas were possible) which should exist if this was generated in Beta 1.6. Of course, maybe that was one of the forest types that generated without them - who knows, biomes were similar to each other in Beta versions.
This texture pack seems to mostly replicate the versions of the game without biomes, or at least the images he posted would make it seem so. The switch from Alpha 1.1 to Alpha 1.2 permanently and effectively changed the way worlds generated; saying the generator still made the same or even mostly similar terrain is ridiculous. Also notice that, at the time of this thread being posted, wild grass existed. Do you happen to say any in the screenshots?
Let me just correct you in saying that this was posted in 1.7.3, just to prevent that claim to support any future point you might make. It was indeed posted during the 1.6 period, at exactly 1.6.6.
And finally, I'll get back to you on the sky color point in a moment.

Oh. Sorry.
Of course, I understand that this thread was made shortly after the release of Beta 1.6, but surely after so many updates the OP should've updated at least the images, right?
Well, maybe he should, but still there are tiny generation changes in almost every update. If he would take these screenshots in Beta 1.8, or even 1.2.3 or 1.3.1, you will still notice the tree branches after 1.3.2. Then someone else would notice another change after 1.4 or 1.5 et cetera. You get the thing.

Alright, I went back in to my Alpha world and looked at the sky - you're right, that sky color isn't there.
However, the sky color is also not present in the Beta 1.6 version, which these images were presumably taken in!
So I'm unsure what version these images are from or whether they have a mod or texture pack installed, but I still believe they are from a version in the Alpha (pre-1.2) or InfDev eras.
As for your paragraph in THIS post, I'm not sure exactly what point you're aiming to get across, but I know it has to do with the tree branch generation and how I said that the images should be updated. When I first replied, I didn't know that this was posted in the Beta versions. I thought that it was more recent, apparently post 1.3. I still think that, after all these updates, the images should be updated, especially after possibly the biggest terrain generation change that has occurred in Minecraft (the "Adventure Update" terrain change).
I am interested in what you mean, though, so could you elaborate? If I remember correctly, English isn't your native language (or you have Dyslexia or something similar, but I suspect the former), but that may be outdated as I think it was originally posted two years ago. Anyway, I'd just like to understand correctly. :-)
Alright.
I guess I'll have to stick with the 32x32 lava you made.
Thanks for your help, man.
It does come with the old sounds.
So:
Sugar Canes -> Reeds
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood Planks -> Wooden Planks
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood Slab -> Wooden Slab
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood Stairs -> Wooden Stairs
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Wood -> Wood
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Leaves -> Leaves
Oak/Birch/Spruce/Jungle Sapling -> Sapling
Jack o'Lantern -> Jack 'o' Lantern
Et cetera.
Look at the result.

Replace the texture with a clear texture.
