I'm very impressed with this pack. So, I was wondering if I could use this pack for my classic-themed parkour map. It won't be bundled with it- there will just be a link to this thread in a read-me file. Complete with full credit given to you.
I prefer chests to sound like chests, but I don't really like the new 1.9 sounding chests. I prefer the 1.8 ones, so I modified the resource pack myself.
Also, why did you make iron doors/trapdoors sound like wooden ones? A new sound for iron doors is an improvement, I don't see the need to change it back. However I did edit it myself to make iron trapdoors sound the same as iron doors.
You're right, chests should sound like chests. Updated the packs to have chests sounding like they did in 1.8 and before.
As for the iron doors, it's not always easy to decide whether to use old sounds/textures instead of new ones, but since iron doors have used the same sounds as normal doors for years now, I made them do just that.
Then again, by this logic I would need to change all of the new sounds (read: make them silent) they added to the game.

The beta version doesn't have old player hurt sounds. The 'hit1', 'hit2' and 'hit3' files are there but they are the current ones.
On second thought, that's not a bug, it's a feature.
The beta pack has the gruesome bone and flesh cracking sounds that you could hear in the release candidates and version 1.0.0 of Minecraft. The sounds you can hear in 1.9 and similar versions are the toned down versions of those old cracking sounds.
The gruesome bone cracking noises were actually in the game files throughout most of Beta. I tried looking for a video where C418 (iirc) demonstrates those damage sounds and how they would play when a player fell from different heights, but the video seems to have been taken down.
I was wondering, with the ability to edit the models of blocks within the game through resource packs, are you considering making the chests a whole block in size as they used to be?
That's been the plan for a while now, but chests still don't have a customizable block model, so it can't be done quite yet

Not in anyway I see. There is only one texture for the dust junctions/turns, and it is selectively clipped in-game to appear as a turn or a junction.

I thought that the 'hit1.ogg' and others did sound different when I opened them with VLC Media Player but in Minecraft they just sound like normal.
They are different alright, here's a demonstration of the different hurt sounds (after 0:08)
Can you add the old xp sound (Between Beta 1.8 and RC1)?
Minecraft 1.9 still uses the exact same orb.ogg and levelup.ogg from the original release, it just seems to handle it differently, so there isn't a way to make it sound like it used to by just replacing the .ogg.
Edit: forgot to mention, I updated the packs with the old rain (now at 1.9_3) download them here
Nice pack, but you're missing the old plank, gold, iron and diamond textures.
Not sure what you mean about that.
If you're referring to the oldest textures with less saturated planks, and gold being yellow with white stripes, those textures are in the discontinued "classic/survival_test" version of Nostalgia-Craft
1.I make end portal block with old texture and endframe with custom texture.
2.For items: Nether star now have dark outline like food.Emerald now have the form of rubby.
3/4.Brick now are light like in classic version.Cobblestone now have even older texture!
Some of those textures already exist in the discontinued Classic version of Nostalgia-Craft. They will not be added to any of the current versions for obvious reasons.
With which Minecraft version...? I can confirm this with 1.9.4, as they have modern sounds rather than the classic ones...
The sounds that the chests have now are the sounds that Minecraft has used from chests first got a custom sound and all the way to 1.8. They are different from the sounds that play normally in 1.9
can u make the starting screen darker? i like the old dark screen the chest is kind of off btw!
If I remember correctly, people chose the light version instead of the dark title screen when I first suggested it back in 2011. If people want a darker title screen, I'll change it
What do you mean that the chest is off? Is it that the model is too small?
In that case, it can't be changed (yet), as custom models for chests haven't been implemented
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm super curious as to how you created/recorded the seamlessly repeating lava animation, since it was originally generated with code. (and didn't ever repeat, since it was based on random values)
I have old procedural textures implemented in my mod, and the new texture
system allows writing textures to files without much hassle.
So I literally recorded them, and then did some post-processing (tiling
flowing texture, adding transition, stitching) with ImageMagick.
Will you update the "Classic" version to 1.9? I quite liked it.
Classic is discounted, but you can still download it and use the textures.

Updated the packs to 1.9_2, and made fence gates use the old door sounds.

Sure, feel free to link it

I'll look into this as soon as I can, I'm currently traveling and I don't have immediate access to my files.

Not with just a custom block model; that would make it stop connecting to everything and just look like poles

Did not come with the lava flooding bug, 0/10 not realistic (Im joking, Stop looking at these comments and play with this pack!)

I have been playing since 2014. I own the Java, Xbox 360, and Windows 10 Edition of this game

Even though you won't update the classic edition anymore, can you at least fix it up for 1.9+? That one was my favorite...
What are you looking at?
Just download it and replace the pack_format 1 with a 2. You can still use it, it works. I don't think it changed any GUI or anything that broke.

So, since MCPE made texture packs easier to do now, i decided to make a Mobile version of this one, and yes i credited you in it.
It's called Nostalgia-Craft PE, based on the Alpha version a WIP but it's on it's way.
There were several issues that i personally can't fix, here they are:
Foliage does not work so the biomes are sadly colored (I moved the file where it's supposed to be.)
Chests and Pigs don't get along very well with transparency.
The devs don't allow custom GUI yet.
- One of the things i added and request on the pack is non-transparent slimes. The texture existed before the halloween update.
Well i think thats all!
Could you please make the chests 16x16 instead of 14x14?
