I really enjoyed the feel of the Arts & Craft texture pack by Kxucklez, but I wanted something something with a little bit higher resolution and a few other trivial changes to my personal preference. I decided it would be best to just start from scratch and make my own artsy texture pack from scratch.
The custom fire and fluid (lava and water) animations were derived from the animations in Scuttles' LB Photo Realism pack, everything else I created myself from either the original 16x textures or from scratch.
Everything is included in this texture pack, except the clouds. I just couldn't get them to look right in fancy mode, so I just kept the default clouds.
The end result of my efforts is a world which looks like classic Minecraft from a distance, but when viewed up close present a wonderful 'hand-painted' interpretation of the classic textures.
Enjoy! Feedback is welcome, both positive and negetive, as long as it is polite.
Th3Element05's Painted World Texture Pack download link v3.0 [8.0]
Updated based on the 8.0 texture.png and items.png files which were released before the 8.0 update. Everything should be compatible when 8.0 comes out, but I will update the texture pack again if I find anything is wrong once 8.0 is released.
It is also still compatible with the current version of Minecraft, so feel free to download and start using the new version before the 8.0 update.
I really like the looks of this, have u thought of makin an additional pack with unique textures? since many ppl dont like the original textures (or I dont like them atleast)
I might one day, but honestly, I made this for myself, and it was polished enough that I thought it would be worth sharing with the community.
What I was going to say. >_< It looks like you took the default texture pack, resized it, and spammed "paint" filters on it.
More or less, yes. I put in more detail work on some specific parts, and I made sure that they were all mostly seamless, but the whole project only took me a few days. I never claimed that the effect was particularly difficult to accomplish, nor am I asking for donations or using adfly or anything, just sharing what I created.
The end result of my efforts is a world which looks like classic Minecraft from a distance, but when viewed up close present a wonderful 'hand-painted' interpretation of the classic textures.
Well, I guess you accomplished your goal, and it is a neat effect.
