Hello, 3zekiel here, Im 15 years old and I love texture packs. Ive tried a LOT of texture packs and there are a lot of really nice ones. Textures like bordercraft, scribblecraft and ovo`s rustic pack inspired me to create a texture pack myself. A hand-drawn texture pack, like scribblecraft, but a bit more detailed.
unfortunately, I am not particularly competent with computers or digital art. So naturally I am in need of a helpful artist who knows their way around Photoshop/gimp/other, who can color, and make the images I draw usable for a texture pack. I am definitely open to constructive criticism and suggestions.
over the summer I will probably have nothing but time on my hands, so I should manage to complete a large chunk of the pack over the summer.
Here`s some concept art of the kind of style I would like to implement in this texture pack:
Here are the tools, I will make any modification necessary to make them usable as the tools sprites.
This looks like a great start. I really like hand drawn texture packs.
If you start using putting this into a pack please use a 1.6 template so I can test it, if you like.
I like the concept art,it looks wonderful, but the problem is we aren't looking at a simple 16x16 texture pack,if you want this to be like your concept art, you're looking at a 256x256,which you're gonna have trouble finding someone capable of making it.
Pickaxe_Murder has offered help, though more help is definitely appreciated at all times. If you feel you can help send me a message and we will see what can be done.
I feel the fear takes hold, Afraid this hell I create is my own, Calm my franticness, I cant take it anymore,This used to be my own world, but now I've lost control..
Thanks, make sure to spread the word! The more attention this gets the greater the chances of more people helping! This will have to be a collaborative effort, as Im sure it would take years if i did this by myself.
I like your concept art!
Possibly the easiest way to go about doing these, while retaining the sketchy look, would be to:
make a simple, evenly spaced grid image, with enough boxes for all the items.
Print it out, and draw your items in the boxes (this keeps them all the same size, and makes it easier to import)
Once done with the drawings, scan them into your computer.
Select "Color to Alpha" (or its equivilant in whatever imaging program you use) and make the color white transparent. You should then be left with only your drawings and possibly the grid.
After that, it should be easy to do your editing. Just darken the pencil lines, do your coloring on a layer beneath the pencil layer, resize the image until the grid matches whatever size Item.png you wish your textures to use, and fix the transparencies around the items' borders.

I want to keep the sketchy type look, but all feedback is appreciated.

Good idea. I will bookmark this :tongue.gif:
