Progress is looking great. As for the spruce planks, I had planned to have the iron bands across the top and bottom edges of horizontal and/or verticle. Though I do also like them running randomly around the length of the planks. I'm not sure if both are possible, but if so that would be awesome. If not than leave it the way you have it now.

Probably easier to have them at the top and bottom actually, I'll swap it over and take another screenshot and the best one will stay. It's not much work so it's no problem to do it either way really.
I'm not really the best at CTM but I can goof around and see if I can get both to work as well. I'm sure somebody in the TAU would know how to do it as well if worst comes to worst.
I don't use a particular palette. I'd suggest just pulling colors from existing textures, but that's not required.
I have a post on the last page that lists everything that isn't finished, though people are probably working on that stuff, there isn't much.
As I said before, though, you guys are free to make new textures for anything I've already made. There's plenty of old textures I've wanted to remake, but didn't have the time to. Specifically: Cake block, Ice, Jukebox Top, all the Nether mobs, Chainmail armor, gold armor item icons, records, and possibly others. If a texture looks crappy and out of place to you, then feel free to make a new version if you're up to it.
I made a Chainmail armor replacement a while ago, but haven't used it for anything except personal use since it's a heavily edited version of the armor made by XSSheep. Here it is if one of you want to use it as a base and edit it so it fits in better (with XSSheep's permission, of course).

Huh... I'm glad you liked my armour enough to do that!
It actually looks nice in blue though, I might have to do some recolouring as an experiment in the near future.... Hmmm...
Anyways, I might fiddle around with that later to make it fit in with the pack a bit more and less obviously based off my one. Not now though, still got something I need to finish for somebody else and the clays are still most important so that the 1.6 update can be released.
So when is the 1.6 resource pack coming out? I really love this texture pack and want to use it in 1.6. However, I did convert Derivation to be compatible with 1.6, but both flowing water and the purple portal texture are broken for whatever reason. I'd help but I'm horrible with textures. Thanks for a great pack
Guys, if you look at the last several posts they are still working on textures.
I just started using this about a week ago with my 1.5.2 modded SP game and look forward to using it on my 1.6 server. Absolutely love this pack, so keep up the good work guys.
Oh my goodness...I have not been on here a while and I am so excited that all of you who do this art are helping to keep the Derivation pack going. Thank you all for your hard work and thank you to Lavaunt for creating a texture set that we don't want to play without.
Sorry it took me so long to have a go at the stained clay, got pretty busy the last week!
Anyway, here's how it looks so far. I think it fits in pretty well and at least once it's done there will be an updated pack to play with again, good stained clay or not..
Any criticism/advice is welcome!
EDIT: should probably mention that this is the white stained clay. Normal hardened clay is nowhere near this pale.
looks interesting, Having an updated pack is better than not having one so even if it's not the best hardened clay we can always update it later. I just wish I had the time/motivation to make some textures.
Looks more than suitable to me. What are your plans with the colors, taking the wool colors and just desaturating them? May seem lazy, but that was nearly my own plan.
Haven't checked on this pack in a while... it looks like the community is helping out with new textures? I'd LOVE to try and make a few myself... the art style of the pack has always fascinated me for some reason, and I've never tried making textures in someone else's style.
If I were to make a texture, would I just post it on this thread? PM it to Levaunt? I'm not really sure where to start...

For the normal clay and that one I just randomly picked the colours and just hue shifted from there TBH.
I think I'll start with the wool colours for some of the blocks though, and add a tiny bit of a pinker hue to it after desaturating it. Hopefully that will work ok.
@Ringoster, just post any textures you feel like making here, that way it's easy to keep track of everything.
Any ETA on when we will have the updated pack? looks like you've made good progress, just curious how much you have left to finish up. I'm going to be starting a new LP series and want to use Derivation for it.

Just finishing up the hardened clay and then just giving a quick check to see if there's anything else I need to finish. IIRC hardened clay is the last thing I need to complete so it will be very soon (maybe even later tonight)
I'll have a shot at the clay.
