I think the new glass is okay. Is it possible to make panes and blocks look different using CTM?
It is, and I may do that. The current panes don't use ctm because it didn't work at all with the same ctm used on the glass block. The edges didn't line up properly in many cases.

Also, the lamps look really good when placed in a wall or on a post or something like that, but when you have it as a ground pattern, it doesn't really fit, maybe you can change the top texture if that's possible?
I still don't really like the stone bricks texture, but that's just personal taste. I'll get used to it
There is a special top texture for redstone lamps, you need ctm enable to see them though. I hope everyone gets used to the new stuff, because most of it is here to stay!
Diamond isn't shiny anymore!
Omg, just noticed the nether portal... SO CREEPY. It's perfect.
Gold and diamond ore will get their animations back soon. This update was mostly about getting the pack working with the new format, but hopefully the next update will have more new things, ctm, and animations.
I also love the different shades of blue in the water, however I wish it were a little more transparent, but whatever it's still awesome.
Lastly, I have a concern. I feel like ores don't stand out as much against the smooth stone blocks and sometimes are easy to miss. If there was any way to make them a bit "shiny" I think that would really work.
Other minor criticisms
-Tilled soil (don't have screenshot) looks diagonal. Is that intentional? It looks kind of odd as it is now. I think if you made it parallel (i.e. straight up and down) it would look great.
- Cobblestone looks kind of similar to regular smooth stone. I love the way regular smooth stone looks, but at times it's a little hard to differentiate between the two.
- Netherrack looks cool, but it lacks the "organic", creepy feel that you get from default. Not a major issue, but just thought I'd mention it.
I think still and flowing water need a big update, they are rather old textures. I never have trouble seeing any ores, my ore stands out a whole hell of a lot more than standard Minecraft, and no one ever complains about that! Tilled soil is very much supposed to be diagonal, one of my few attempts to try something different than most packs. It works best if you make a large field of it and hide the water a block under it.
Some people like when cobblestone and stone go well together, for building techniques and such. As for netherack it will get some ctm soon that will "liven" it up some.

People use this pack for super hostile maps a lot. I wonder if there is some subtext there to be had...
Working on doing what Levaunt didn't want to do.... Making 1.5 textures + ctm + new animations work for 1.4.7! So far so good, have to improvise just a little bit because of 1.4.7's constraints but things are looking nice! Currently I'm working on getting the animations to work with the CTM. Its a little finicky due to the changes in texture formats. I'll upload it once I'm done for those who want to use it

I'd be shocked if you got the soulsand working. Anyway I would normally not allow a seperate download of the pack like this. However it seems like a good cause considering the lack of "backwards compatability" with any new textures. I'll add it to the OP tomorrow.

But there were a lot of the textures from the previous version (1.4.7) that I really liked as well such as birch leaves.. and I wish I could take some of those and replace the new ones just simply because I got used to them. Not saying that the new ones are bad, I just prefer some of the old ones. Is there any way to do that?

Well be shocked then good sir I got randomized animation working, I just need to figure out how to get the timings to work properly now.

Did you swap the screenshots or something. That is working properly if you didn't. Birch leaves have a unique texture from normal leaves. They also should be orange color, not green, Not sure why they aren't for you.

In my point of view, we're playing your vision of the game. Changes can happen, but if we don't like it anymore, we need to find another pack.
I like how your pack evolves without losing its DNA. Personally, I prefer the old Nether bricks. The new one is not ugly, it's just my personnal taste, but in contradiction, I like how the Nether Fence changed its color. But as I said, it's the way it goes, and if sometimes I'm nitpicking about some isolated PNG, I like how the Arstist you are shares the whole vision of the game.

Do you have custom colors checked in mcpatcher when you patch? If you don't that's probably why they are green.
Just take the 1.4.7 version of the pack, run it through MCPatcher's converter, go into the CTM folder, and copy the old glass files over the new ones in the official 1.5. You'll also want to replace the glass.png in Textures>Blocks
or just go back to the bottom of page 99 and use my download link for the 1.5 items/blocks ready for use in 1.4.7 with the old glass still in it
Levaunt - It seems there was a new texture that Mojang were sneaky in adding for the 1.5 full release that is needing a texture. detectorRail_on.png its a triggered version of the detector rail when a cart goes over it. It is located in textures>blocks.
in textures>items there are 2 texture missing. quiver.png (which as of yet remains unused) and glassBottle.png which is for when you craft empty bottles.
Pretty easy fixes, just giving you a heads up on em.

Whoops. Yeah you're right, when placed they don't look similar. I meant to say that in the inventory/chest menus, they are a little harder to differentiate between the two than default for example. I usually have to mouse over one to figure out what is what.

Seriously? Maybe try playing in fullscreen, because if you are, they look completely different.
Different color, different contrast, different shapes.
If you look at the screenshot Fish, he is using the old cobblestone texture and not the new one, the old one did blend in with stone a bit more than the new one.
i-I- I'm SPEECHLESS! Words can not describe it. It is perfect for anyone to use. I may use it as the required texture pack for a map I'm building, either this or Aethery's Ascended. Regardless, though, it's stunning!

You're right about HD textures, but you'll miss the CTM and the Skies which are really awesome ! You won't have different types of mobs, and no HD font support...
MCPatcher is still required if you want to fully enjoy the pack
